“Spectacular Stay”

The start of this review may seem odd as I’m about to go on and on about our host before I even start to talk about the actual accommodations, but, once you tour the island, you will see that there are many fine places to stay. George’s personal touch really made the difference. From first meeting George, it was obvious how much he cared about making our stay pleasant and relaxing. Our travel arrangements had us arriving late at night, after a long couple of plane rides. As late as it was, George greeted us exuberantly upon our arrival. We were all famished and inquired as to where we could find a grocery store. George told us that the only one still open would be closing in less than a half hour. He immediately insisted that we let him drive a few of us so we would get there in time. That kind of helpful, can-do attitude was indicative of how helpful George was during our stay. Whatever we needed, sight-seeing advice, taxis, restaurant recommendations, George was always available, and happy to help. None of us had activated our cell phones for European use, so any calls we made would have incurred ridiculous roaming charges. So George allowing us use of a phone for local calls, and/or making calls for us was incredibly helpful. Part of our trip was a birthday celebration, and we hoped to have a local chef cook for our group at the Villa. George not only introduced us to a fabulous chef, but was there to let him in and get him set up, so we could stay out during the day and continue our site seeing. All in all, George is a fantastic person, proud of his cultural heritage, who goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy the days spent on his island as much as he does. The Eos Villa with it’s three spacious apartments contained within are well laid out, super clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Add the outside pool with its large deck, chaise lounges, umbrellas, and full views of the Aegean Sea, and you will be tempted to skip any sightseeing and just lazy your days away relaxing in the sun. If nothing else, a dip in the pool followed by a short nap on the deck was a great way to recharge our batteries between touring the various towns on the island. All the apartments have a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, large living room/dining area, and balconies with seating to enjoy the fantastic views. Off one hallway is a washing machine for shared use. This is a great convenience, as we were all able to pack a bit lighter, knowing we would be able to freshen up our wardrobes. If needed, each apartment has a flat screen TV with cable and DVD player, along with central air conditioning that can be individually controlled for each room. (There is a communal DVD collection with varied genres in English, French, and other languages.) We stayed for a week, and our rooms were freshened up every few days including new linens and towels. George even provides separate larger “beach” towels to use by the pool. The Villa’s location makes getting to the various towns very convenient. There is a stop for the local bus a quick two minute walk up the road. If you prefer a taxi, George will call one for you. The Villa’s central location make short rides to the various cities. If you wish to make use of the kitchen amenities, there are two grocery stores a 15 minute walk up the road. Part of it is uphill, but not a bad walk if you take your time. While the stores are not large, they have a good selection of groceries, fresh produce, wine, and some local baked goods and ice cream. We enjoy local shopping both for the economic value of making our own meals, and for enabling us to further immerse ourselves in that region’s culture. These convenient stores, and George’s well laid out apartment kitchens, enabled us to prepare many enjoyable meals for ourselves. I can’t think of a single time when any of us said, “I wish this place had a ……”. George provided everything we needed. We so enjoyed Santorini that we all feel a return trip is warranted sometime in the future. We will definitely stay at Eos Villa when we return.

“Great place to self-cater in Santorini”

I went with a small group of friends to Santorini. We wanted somewhere not too expensive, as Santorini is an upmarket and relatively expensive place to stay. If you are willing to visit in October, it is much cheaper to stay here than right in the summer. Owners George & Pauline are very welcoming and helpful. There are wonderful views from Eos Villas, over the east coast of Santorini. The caldera is the other coast, yet still only about 10 mins walk (although uphill and part of the way along a fairly busy road). The "supermarkets" (really only corner shops) in Imerovigli are very dear and very limited range of goods on sale.We hired a car for part of the week, and found Aldi about 3 miles away on the other side of Fari, which was much cheaper, and also Carrefour at Perissa.
You can get around on buses (mostly every 20 mins from Fari via Imerovigli to Oia). Most routes start from Fari and go to various parts of the island, but obviously it is more convenient to see more and faster if you hire a car.

Liked best: Magnificent views from the balconies, and the friendliness of the owners.
Liked least: If you don't hire a car, then to reach Imerovigli centre it is a 5 minute walk uphill on a fairly busy road with no proper pavement.

“Truly excellent place to stay and very central to everywhere”

We really loved it here. Just a few minutes walk from all amenities in Imerovigli. Set back away from the very busy Caldera volcano edge, this makes a great stay central to the whole island, but calm and quiet. Buses and car hire very nearby. Fantastic new infinity swimming pool.
I loved walking from here along the Caldera all the way to Oia on the edge. Or shorter walks through boutique and taverna heaven to Thera.
