This was our second visit to the wonderful island of Santorini.
The first time we stayed in Perissa, in some side by side self-catering rooms which were adequate, but appeared to have paper thin walls, allowing us to hear the drunk guy and his friends each and every night!

This time we opted for Krokos Villas in Imerovigli.
We were met off the coach by Vladimir, who took our cases and lugged them up and down countless numbers of steps to reach our cliff-top apartment. This was a relief as the Grecian heat hit us when the door of the plane was opened at the airport.

The apartment is built into the side of the cliff with a large balcony overlooking the Caldera.
This is where we ate our breakfast each morning delivered at the appointed time by Vladimir.

The view from the balcony was sensational looking out to Nea Kameni (Volcano), and the daily arrival of cruise ships down below. We were look enough to occasionally spot a pair of eagles (or were they vultures) as we ate our Greek Yoghurt & Honey etc.

Santorini has to be my favourite place in Greece because of its rugged beauty, and incredible sunsets, which most of the holiday population (it would seem) gathers to watch from the clifftops each evening. Prices on the island appear to be more expensive than most Greek resorts, no doubt due to the daily arrival of the cruise ships, and passengers itching to spend their money on jewellery of which there is much, along with designer clothes.

On arrival at our apartment the air-con was working, but not very well, and did little to get me down to a sensible temperature. This was reported to Sophia from our room phone, and by the following day the whole unit had been replaced by a brand new bit of kit, which kept us plenty cool at night. Bear in mind that air-con is essential if you are there during the summer months, otherwise you will fry!

We arrived at 10 pm on Tuesday 24th July 2013 at about 10 pm....... We were greeted with "I'm sorry we don't have a room for you" baring in mind I booked in January of this year as a family of 3, we then sat in the reception area for over 2 hours whilst they found another room in a different hotel, we were not allowed into the Krokus apartments until the next day at 4 pm :(((, so we'd lost nearly a day, and had paid £1700 for this week of our holiday !!!! The jacussi area was filthy, the room was average, they had added a camp bed into our room for my 13 year old son, which collapsed most nights, the views were stunning, breakfast was average, I wouldn't go back I'm afraid :(

Stayed 28thMay till 4thJune 2013. Stayed in room C1 which is the image on the company website. We looked at the Cave room but we had the perfect room for view in C1. Very clean down to Maria.vladamee along with receptionists Sophia & Panayiota were fantastic in looking after us.The accommodation is at the very top of a maze of steps. Make sure you have trainers, flip flops or flat sandals are no good for the amount of steps you have to encounter along the caldera side santorini. The hotel provide shower gel, soap and shampoo and hairdryer. Also supply pool towels for the plunge pool and give you them too if you go to the Regina Mare Hotel which is a 10 min walk away. There is always a breeze and in our case there were very strong winds which can be pretty wild. We ate at agnoti a few times which you need to book as it's always busy, we ate next door to it in estia which was always quiter.bella thira was a nice place to eat too.Imerovigly is a very quiet part of santorini so Ideal to relax.a wee tip would be to take binoculars as I wish I'd taken mine. It really is a beautiful island.

nice hotel with amazing room views. Credit to Sofia and Panagiwta for our lovely stay. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast could be served either in room or balcony, because the hotel doesnt have a restaurant. Breath taking view from the balcony with the volcano. Great choice for families who prefers views to location, cooking to eating outside.

Santorini is a stunningly beautiful island, with breathtaking views on the Caldera side. Having done some research I decided to stay in Imerovigli, as it seemed the best placed for the views, and the quietest (Fira is VERY touristy and noisy, as is Oia). It was an excellent choice. So then I had to decide which hotel to stay in, and having read the reviews on TripAdvisor I chose Krokos because it seemed to offer the best combination of value and quality. This was also a great choice. I booked a standard studio room, and was delighted to be upgraded to a beautiful and spacious cave suite. It was clearly the most picturesque villa in Imerovigli, judging by the number of people who took photos of it - we even had a succession of brides being photographed outside - the bougainvillea making a good backdrop. The cave suites have a very spacious lounge, and a small kitchen facility - two hobs, a coffee filter machine, lots of crockery and cutlery - very useful as we cooked dinner on two nights and watched the sunset from our balcony - bliss! You have to be quite nimble to get into bed, though, as the bed is on a platform accessed by quite steep stairs, and then you cannot stand up in the bed space as it is in the roof part of the cave. Very cosy and romantic!

We looked at some of the other rooms (being nosy), and I can honestly say they all looked like they'd be good to stay in. Each one has a private balcony with a stunning view. The staff at Krokos are very helpful and friendly, and the breakfasts are sumptuous.

Krokos doesn't have a swimming pool but it does have a large shared jacussi, which was very refreshing, being inside a cave, and with the usual fantastic view of the caldera. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for K01 - the bougainvillea villa. It's an original villa built into the side of the mountai...

My family and I stayed at Krokos Villas at the end of June 2012 and we absolutely loved it! Our rooms were perfect for what we were looking for and very clean. Our balcony was amazing. We had breakfast outside every morning on the balcony. The breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we ever had as they were homeade daily each morning. Thalia and all the staff were so kind and amazingly generous with everything that we needed. Thalia made the best food ever and we endulged on the breakfast every morning as there was more than enough to choose from that we had ever seen. Coming from a Greek family myself they were very much like my own as they were very warm and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat and go back again to the same place. The only thing that might be challenging for someone is the stairs but the wonderful staff take your luggage up and down the stairs themselves for you. The prices were also very reasonable for Santorini as this was my second time going. If you ever go to Santorini i would recommend this hotel hands down!!
