We spent a week in Crete, on this beautiful Greek island. Peninsula Hotel was chosen because we read about the beautiful view, and we weren't disappointed. I read several negative criticism, but only the many steps were that we observed. So, I don't recommend the hotel due to the many steps to restricted mobility people and seniors. They find it difficult to down and get up the beach or in the lower garden parts.

The hotel is located on a hillside with a beautiful garden full of palm trees and oleanders, from the upper terrace near 270-degree views of the sea! The rooms are in several buildings. Our room was of the lower part of the hotel, with beautiful views, but If someone doesn't correspond to the room, ask for an exchange at the reception. The staff was very friendly, everyone helped.

Both the pool water was clean, the garden was treated, the room was cleaned every day. The room air conditioners is quite old and weak, but I saw other rooms, the installers exchange the older one to a new equipment.

The food selection was good, every dinner fresh baked meats were made. Several times was fish, seafood and traditional Greek dishes. Unfortunately, the early breakfast was very poor...
The All-inclusive care of the drinks are free, but only in the main building taverns. The beach snack bar is only for beer and soft drinks were free. The beer was very good :), but the coke was terrible for me...

Every night was a music show, mostly in French, English and Spanish second. The shows were very loud, so glad that our room wasn't in the main building, but in the silent lower part of the hotel. We enjoyed the quiet Monday night, when there wasn't music show...

Several car rental is close to the hotel, so it is useful to explore the island by car. I recommend to explore the beautiful "Palm Beach", which is the other side of island.

Room Tip: I recommend a quiet room in the lower part of hotel, so there are many stone steps to the restaurant...

hi, i stayed in the hotel on my own for 7 days on all inclusive. during lunch and dinner food varied, was good, always could find something, had a lot of watermelon & melon. only what they could really improve it is breakfast but as in the morning i dont like to eat much, was ok for me!90% occupancy are french, most of animation in french, were few families russians and polish. If you like sandy beaches so maybe this resort is not for you, beach is very stony, very slippery stones, you have to wear speacial shoes, or just swimm straight a way, otherwise quiet dangerous, it has another beach which is public ( mostly local people there) to get in the water it is not problem. view of the rooms are really beautiful, special first and second floors. It is worth to wake up at 6.15am to see a sunrise, which is amazing!Majority of the staff are on their workexperience, but all friendly. Restaurant manager is smily and kind!!!The best about the restaurant is that they open before they have to and u can get food&drinks and same about closing, even 30 min after closing you walk in to the restaurant and u still can find something to eat, nobody send you away!drinks are queit good, they white, rose, red wines . Fridge is empty in your room, there is no drinks, even water, but they water in the restaurant, so you if you have empty plastic bottle you can fill it up in the restaurant, that is what a lot of people do or you can buy from the minimarket in the hotel. Hotel is situated in the village, so there is no much to do, i been told there was some club "Paradise" not far away 15-20 mins walk but when asked locals they could really say much about it. For people on their own it is very boring there, most of the guest are with families I was like to make friends there with who i spent all my holiday. So going to this hotel definitelly take your family or friends:)))))) otherwise it is a good hotel! i enjoyed my holiday a lot! It is very calm&relaxing!Sometimes a bit noisy because of neigbour hotels(disco)! I made a mistake i booked flight to chania, so i had to travel about 3 hours to get right to the hotel, but public transport is very good, so no problems with that, bud from chania aiport to chania (20 mins) 2.30 euro, and from chania to agia pelagia 2,15 mins (12.80 euro) but they drop you off the main road, so prepare another 10 euro to spend for a taxi( forget about walk, it is about 3 km to the hotel)! So enjoy your holiday!!! Visit Psyho caves a beautiful!!!!!!!

Room Tip: my rooom was 515 on the 1st floor (the highest is second) was very beautiful, definitelly ask for se...

Just back from a week at the Peninsula as a family of four and had a wonderful time.
Views of the sea from all around amazing.
Food good and varied and staff friendly and helpful.
Can't understand some other reviews of this hotel being negative ie who cares if it is mainly French holidaymakers or if the tv doesn't have a zillion channels !!
If you want a relaxing holiday with great views and food which is an authentic piece of Greece then this is for you - if you want a holiday full of British pubs and food then it is not for you !
Not ideal if you are less mobile but otherwise ideal.

Room Tip: we stayed 2 floors down and was very quiet and easy access to restuarant/ bars and pool .

I spent here 2 weeks with my boyfriend in June 2012 and i have some positive and negative opinions about this hotel:

YEEEY!
1. The sea view from all over the resort was amazing!!!
2. The pool water was really clean, continuously filtered
3. The room service was great
4. Friendly staff

BOO!
1. The hotel is really isolated, no shops nearby..anyway, you can find a small village at a 20 minutes walk distance..
2. The food was moderate and the menu really poor...DO NOT EXPECT to eat here fresh seafood or authentic greek salads...or desert!!!
3. Noise was a real big problem in the main building!!! Doors were slaming from 6:30 till 9 a.m. and we were forced to wake up at 7! The hotel should fix this problem, it's really annoying to hear the doors slaming so loud!..Also, people should be more careful when closing the doors.
4. Except for the pool area, sunbeds cost 3 eur in the resort, even for all inclusive...!
5. Be careful!!! There are many big stone steps spread all around the resort, in the garden and on the way to the beach..it might be difficult for some people to walk around there!

In conclusion: The hotel was OK, but i don't think i will come back here...

Anyway, CRETE is amazing!!! Wherever you will stay, please visit Knossos Palace and Elafonisi exotic beach...they are fabulous!! Thanks for reading this!

Room Tip: Do not rent a room in the main building!!! Doors are slaming really loud in the morning!!! I think b...

Hi, we stayed at the Peninsula in the beginning of June 2012 and I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the Greek sun....
the hotel has three different beaches nearby (one being the hotel beach bar) which is the place we preferred the most...
In my experience i'd say this hotel is extremely good in terms of value for money, we booked a sea view room which was definitely worth it with the bed & breakfast program which gave us the opportunity to eat by the beach for lunch and also to take some daily excursions around crete...
in summary this hotel is a good choice

Room Tip: We booked a sea view double room, you should also!

Feeling the need to get away for a week's break in the sun a friend and I chose the Hotel Peninsula in Crete because of its good price. We had read mixed reviews but seen some lovely photos on booking.com and decided to go for this hotel because of its good price €360 for 6 nights in a double room with single beds (incredible sea view). It was spacious, in fact, and the beds were comfortable. We also had an amazing terrace overlooking the sea which was just what we had been looking for. When we arrived we felt as though we had been transported to heaven, literally! The hotel was a complex of tasteful, winding "alleyways" all whitewashed with blue doors and window fittings. There were splashes of colorful plants and exotic plants round almost every corner, and the hotel had two swimming pools on different levels, and the sea was just amazing. It is true that there are steps to go up and down, but they actually make access to the beaches very easy and the position of this hotel, on the end of the headland, is enviable. We will definitely be going back as there is something for everyone, entertainment for families but also the chance to escape for those who want a quieter holiday.
Finally, of course, the staff, who were very helpful and efficient and breakfast was a pleasure in a lovely dining room overlooking a sparkling sea.

I visited the hotel Peninsula with a friend and more than lived up to our expectations. First of all, its stunning location on a prominontry over a shimmering Aegean sea is hard to beat. Secondly, the rooms are extremely spacious and clean with lovely terraces. They come equipped with fridge, satellite TV, airconditioning and, very importantly, good mattresses. We had absolutely no complaints about the rooms or housekeeping.
The reception and bar & restaurant area are dignified and tastefully decorated . We got a feeling of luxury far beyond the price we had paid. Yes, there are steps to climb, but nothing too daunting for an able-bodied guest, and the upside of this are the fabulous views of the surrounding area.
We took the B&B option and were more than satisfied with the choice and quality of food on offer. Other guests who opted for full board told us that lunch and dinner were equally impressive. For those wishing to be more independent , there are, however, delightful tavernas in the small bay next to the hotel. We liked Stelios’ beachside tavern the best, but for guests with a car George two minutes up the road up the road also puts on a great lunch with a lovely personal touch.
If we found any shortcomings at the Peninsula, it might be that because of the hotel’s location, the wi-fi access is intermittent, so not suitable for those needing reliable internet access.
Overall, however, we feel our stay in the Peninsula has been pretty idyllic and we are definitely planning a return visit.
