Having read some of the comments of people staying at the time that we did, I cannot believe the megativity of the comments, the place was truly lovely, the staff were great, they worked so hard all the time and always had time for you, the food was just lovely, something different every night, we did not have one complaint, we always went to the lower pool as it was more relaxing than the top pool, our room was just lovely and was cleaned to a very high standard every day, I would not hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone, we heard a few people whilst we were there complaining and it really annoyed me as obviously there is no pleasing some people at all, please take the negative comments from others with a pinch of salt, I have worked in the leisure industry for a number of years and have very high standards and this hotel met my standards with everything - just superb, thank you so much to the management and staff for making our holiday truly memorable - we will be back !

**Had I read the response below by the management to the review left by "bandriszal" I would not have booked this hotel - I have never read such a rude and unprofessional resonse to a negative review in my life and totally sums up the attitude of the people running the hotel**

Review in order of the holiday:

Day1 - Arrived at 11.30pm to be told that the hotel had over booked and we would in fact have to spend our first night in the Panaramic hotel opposite. Also told as mentioned in the other reviews below that overbooking was a standard practice at hotels across the globe - never experienced this before, nor has anyone I know. Told we would be picked up at 12pm the following day. Finally got to our room at the 3* Panoramic at 1.30am after firstly being given a single room!
Day2 - Woke up at 9am, looked out the window to see our lovely looking hotel, not the view we'd expected to have. Thought we'd try to make the most of it and went to breakfast. Within 1 minute of looking at the poor offerings we decided to ignore the request of waiting until 12pm for a pick up to our hotel and requested a car be sent straight away to take us back to Sensimar. When we arrived, we found out there wasn't a manager on site until 11.30am (and they finished at 4pm, wish I could have those hours!). Our room was finally available at 2pm. The manager was apologetic, gave us a number of freebies and we left for the pool feeling happy. Left the pool to get ready for drinks and dinner, NO HOT WATER! Told by reception that they would get someone to look at the boiler, ended up having a cold shower.
Day3 - NO HOT WATER, AGAIN! Told this time by reception that we should try the fitness centre shower rooms, these also had NO HOT WATER! Went back to reception who finally admitted that there wasn't enough water in the hotel and they were waiting on a delivery, literally had to wait for the tanks to be refilled before taking a shower, and this is advertised as a 5* hotel???????
Day4 - Good day, had hot water, yay!
Day 5- Good day, took advantage of the free massage offered as compensation.
Day 6- Hannah spent the day in bed with a particularly nasty stomach upset (not alcohol induced!) and the toilet broke! Took 2.5 hours to send someone to fix it. Jamie had the free 5 course al la carte meal - let's just say if money had changed hands most of the overcooked food would have been sent back!
Day 7 - Rain! Can't blame the hotel though, plus had a free late check out due to our first night at the Penninsula as well as a lovely spa treatment.

In general, this is a great looking hotel with a couple of great pools (numerous broken loungers but enough to go around) and OK food. The majority of staff seemed to work their socks off but this hotel was really let down by a severe managment issue.

We were one of the other couples referred to in GoogleyWestSussex's comments and can confirm that the account that was written up is unfortunately very true. Having been up since 4.00 a.m. for a 7.30 flight out of Gatwick we all seemed stunned at the news that upon arriving at the beautiful looking Sensimar hotel that we were being shipped out to the hotel across the bay - The Peninsula. We paid for 7 nights 4+ stars at the Sensimar and so feet totally taken aback at arriving at the Peninsula and finding that it was 2* (GoogleyWestSussex was complimentary calling it 3*), our room included no soap in the bathroom and torn towels - not 4+* by any account. We arrived back at the Sensimar at around 12.30 on Wednesday to be told that our rooms weren't ready but that they were being cleaned at the moment, we were then asked to go and get some lunch and come back in an hour. We then all arrived back at reception together around 13.45 for the reception staff to then start to complete our paperwork - we had all hoped this would have been done whilst we were having our lunch as we were all eager to get into our rooms. My partner and I were then given a family room - not an upgrade just a bigger room, we didn't need a family room as there was just the two of us and the downside to this that we found was that the only air conditioning unit was located in the children's bedroom. Consequently my partner and I spent all our holiday sleeping in seperate rooms as the main room was too hot. We were also offered by way of 'compensation' a free meal in the Italian restaurant and a free massage each, the reception was astonished that neither of us were interested in the free massage and then offered us all inclusive from 23.00 onwards. Neither of us were interested in these offers and subsequently they were never used. We did later learn that people who had arrived later in the evening had no problem accessing their rooms and indeed were even offered free upgrades. On the plus side the resort is beautiful and the views are absolutely stunning, the waiting staff in the restaurant were lovely and helpful and food and drink was plentiful with a lot of variety. The only other small gripe that I would say is that we had the same beach towels all week. The housekeeping staff will change them if you leave them in your room on a certain day of the week - we used ours all week by the pool so during the day always had them with us. If I could give any advice to the hotel I would say please don't bump people out of your hotel and most certainly if you do UPGRADE them do not downgrade them, sort out a different way of changing the beach towels and sort out the air conditioning - then I think you will definitely have the makings of a 5* resort. I am going to click on no I wouldn't recommend because of the bumping off to a different hotel - sort that out and I would be happy to change my recommendation.

We travelled with Thomsons from Gatwick for a week's stay and arrived on the Tuesday afternoon to be told by the Reception staff that the hotel was overbooked and that we (three couples) would be transferred to another hotel nearby for the first night! Considering that most of us had been awake since 4am that day for a 7am flight, we were tired and this news was met by stunned silence. Questions were asked about how this could happen (some of us had booked our holidays up to 6 months ago) the hotel staff apologised and assured us of lots of 'presents' to compensate us when we were told to return the next day at noon. We were taken to the Peninsula hotel which was opposite the Sensimar hotel. It was apparent that this hotel was 3 star at best and just to rub salt into the wounds, the view over the bay was of the Sensimar, where we should have been!! No Thomson rep contacted us so we had no choice but to stay put in a lower class hotel with awful food and rooms. The next day we were all ready to be taken back to the Sensimar (it seems that this hotel is used as an overflow on a regular basis overhearing conversations in the Reception area) we met another couple who were in the same situation as us, flying in from a different UK airport. We were taken back to the Sensimar at 12.30 to be told that our rooms were being 'prepared' and we should go and have lunch in the hotel......we finally got into our rooms by 3pm. The hotel management seemed to think that because they were giving us some extras, i.e. room upgrade in some cases, free dinner in a la carte restuarant, free massage - this was enough to make everything ok for their overbooking mistake. We weren't convinced the hotel was actually full when we arrived and later found out that other guests who arrived on later flights did have rooms given to them on arrival. The management said that the practise of overbooking hotels was conducted by hotels all over the world and we don't dispute that, the fact that we had booked this holiday so far in advance and that it appears to be a regular occurance annoyed us. The remainder of our holiday was lovely but it still remains that a warning should be given to anyone considering booking this hotel, there is a danger you could end up spending your first night in a different hotel of a lesser standard!
