“Great hotel for business or leisure”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

I stayed at Air Hotel Royal for 5 nights in Feb 2012 while on a business trip to Ramstein Airbase and Einsiedlerhof Air Station. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I travel a *lot* (20+ trips annually) and count Air Hotel as one of the best places I've stayed. Rooms are modern, spacious, and equipped with amenities that make travel pleasant and cut down on costs: towel warming rack, a small bar sink, refrigerator, and microwave, ample closet space. At night the rooms are dark and quiet, without a peep from the heating system to keep you awake.

Free wired high-speed internet was fast and worked without a hitch.

The breakfast is fantastic. Definitely a step up from your typical continental. Included were several kinds of fruit, cereal, musli, a variety of fresh breads with jams and Nutella, one hot item that changes daily, cheeses, rolls, several meats, juices, coffee and espresso. The staff will make you fresh scrambled eggs if you ask -- which I recommend, as they're the freshest I've had in a long time. (Note that the hotel serves only breakfast and has no 'restaurant' per se.)

The hotel staff was efficient, courteous and friendly. The hotel is owned and managed by Michael (who works the front desk, takes reservations, speaks English better than I do, and will work out whatever logistical challenges or travel problems you may encounter) and his mother (who keeps the rooms spotless, the breakfast bar full, and the breakfasting guests happy). Michael was able to track down lost luggage, recommend places to eat, provide German power adapters, and make travel arrangements to and from Frankfurt airport.

The hotel itself is a converted police station right on the central square in Landstuhl, so it's a quick walk to several bars, restaurants, shops, and even a large grocery store. If you want to see the castle on the hill overlooking the town, it's only about 25-30 minutes by foot from the Air Hotel, and at the top you'll be rewarded with a great view and a very nice Gasthof to refresh you for the walk back down.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, though some are newer than others. Ask for one of them.

My husband is Active Duty and we were coming from Italy to have a procedure done at the Air Force Hospital near the hotel and the base had no rooms available so we decided to stay here. We stayed there for 6 days and everything was amazing. Michael was a great host and showed us everything about our room. Internet was included and so was breakfast--which was a plus for us. Since we drove from Italy we were worried about parking but there was plenty of parking at the hotel.
The hotel is beautiful and so well kept. Everyone spoke english and were very helpful with our needs. Our rooms were spacious and even included a small refrigerator and kitchen sink. There was plenty of closet space and I even took them up on the laundry service which was cheap and came back folded and pressed in less than 5 hours.
Breakfast included fresh fruits and breads and yummy yogurt. The town was so beautiful and Michael and his family recommended a few restaurants in the area. There are plenty of people that speak English since the military base is 5 minutes away. And military members remember your VAT forms so you can get the tax refunded!
I would go back to this hotel again and again and highly recommend it. Thanks to Michael for his great service!

My husband and I are active duty Army who were on temporary duty at Landstuhl for a month. After reading the tripadvisor reviews we chose to book at Air Hotel and were not disappointed. Michael and his family did their best to assure that we were as comfortable as possible. We were given the corner 1 bdrm room with stove, fridge, living room, bedroom, bath. Perfect for longer stays. Loved the free internet hookup - essential! enjoyed the daily continental / european breakfasts. Only noted downsides were no food/drinks for dinner at the hotel so instead we had to go out in the town to other hotels/restuarants and the selection of English TV channels were few and far between. Small things really. Michael always was willing to give good food or travel recommendations and his family is very friendly. Would come back again!

We stayed for 6 nights in this little, but modern hotel in Landstuhl, Germany. The proprietor, Michael Heitzmann, is a friendly, helpful young man who really cares about his guests and offered us ideas daily about where we might go to see sights and to eat dinner each night, mostly within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean, quiet and well-appointed with included cable TV, internet and tasty morning breakfast buffet included. This is a family-owned hotel with about 20 rooms and is expanding soon to nearly 30 rooms. Michael has totally gutted the original structure and has done a stem-to-stern total modernization of the hotel, which was once the downtown Police Station in Landstuhl. Plenty of parking across the street, the hotel is in the center of the quaint, serene town of Landstuhl with it's view of lofty hills and the Nanstein Castle, which is also within walking distance of the hotel. Excellent accommodations with numerous outstanding restaurants only a short walk away. Highly Recommended!!!

Room Tip: Reserve early by email (english ok) to Michael

Stayed in the Air Royal during the third week of Feb, 2011 and we were all quite impressed. One had a garden room and the other was on the second floor. both of us thought the rooms to be above the average on cleanliness, space, features...aside from the tv which is mostly (as expected) German. Service was great all the way around.

Skip the breakfast though and no, not due to any quality of the food. Rather, we found a tea room across from the hotel and a bakery nearly next door...both are very good themselves so no need to shell out the price of breakfast when for 1/3 the price you can have something similar nearby. There is also a "bar" at eth corner that has good food up until about 2100 or so .

Have fun.

I just can't say enough about our wonderful stay at Air Hotel in Landstuhl. My husband had a 3 month job assignment in Germany, so we decided to make it a family affair. We have two very young children, and right away the staff at Air Hotel went out of their way to make us feel right at home. The entire staff is wonderful! The hotel is beautiful and spotless! The breakfast is sooo good! Francesca always made sure that we had all of our favorites. Michael and Christa gave us so much great advice on all of the traveling that we did during our time in Europe. So helpful!!! I can't put into words how great that everyone treated us. Michael and his staff are all amazing! We miss them already. We have made a promise to ourselves to go back and visit again just so we can stay at Air Hotel. If you are ever in the Landstuhl area, this is a must!!
