Inspired to try this restaurant on the basis of previous reviews, we stopped by for lunch. The restaurant was busy when we arrived at 1.30. We were shown to a table of 8, even though there was only my wife and me. We passed through several rooms, sensing the friendly and informal atmosphere. We opted for the 12 euro menu. There was already complimentary water on the table. We started with the cheese flan, which was light and creamy. We were left with a huge terrine which we sampled as well. This was followed by a white fish served in a creamy sauce, with a choice of vegetables to accompany it. We were left with a plate of cheese to take as much as we wanted - the goat cheese was particularly flavoursome. We were rather full at this point, although the iles flottantes slipped down a treat. There was a choice of drinks, including cider or wine included in the price of the meal.
We were astonished by the excellent value. It was simple, well-cooked food in a very friendly atmosphere. The people working in the restaurant made time to talk to the guests, many of whom were clearly frequent visitors. The whole dining experience left us feeling that old-fashioned values are still to be found alive and kicking in this fantastic restaurant.
