“Mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors.”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Blimey, when the 4 of us entered the restaurant it was like walking out on stage! Chandeliers the size of beach balls hanging down everywhere. When i sat down, there were so many mirrors I could virtually see everyone in the restaurant. Occasionally I caught the eye of so many diners I got embarrassed. Just glad I didn't have any skin complaints because every single diner would have been aware of it. But very French and charming.

Anyway, we were welcomed into the hotel by a very friendly concierge, who promptly gave us keys and instructions to rooms. The rooms were neat, clean, tidy and fit for purpose; our room was slightly oppressive but that's because was it was absolute pelting down outside.

We booked in for a meal in the white light restaurant. The food, service and wine were very very good. My soup de poisson was fantastic. The diners were all French, (which is always a good sign) and dignified.

Breakfast (with more mirrors) was also very tasty and displayed perfectly. My coffee was delicious.

A lovely little hotel in a lovely little town. Would definitely go back there again.

Room Tip: First floor as there were no lifts

We stayed here last October and I've just booked again, its a short walk to the beach promenade and lots of nice places for lunch. Hotel restaurant is authentic and food first class. Easy parking and pleasant company. The hotel attracts polite guests which we enjoy.

Greatly looking forward to aarriving.

We have visted this hotel 3 times over the last 15 years and it is always pleasing to return. We stayed in a mid-priced room which was super - it had two bedroom areas and two wet-room en-suites, originally we booked a basic room but chose to upgrade.

There is no lift but we were given the opportunity to have our cases taken to our room.

We enjoyed dinner in the hotel, which serves typical French food. The restaurant was full at one point so it would certainly be a good idea to book a table ahead. The 3-course dinner (we chose the more expensive set menu), wine, coffee and brandy for 2 cost about £70 which was very good value especially as we spent a whole relaxing evening there a there was no rush between courses.

Wimereux is a typical french seaside town, a few nice shops for clothes, cookware, wine etc. and there are a few cafes on the seafront which have glass screens seperating the outside tables from the wind from the sea, we visited in September and enjoyed sitting in the sun without the wind chill factor.

The beaches all along the coast are fairly spectactular, however the coastline is tidal so the tides come in and go out twice a day, so it'd be worth checking tide times if you are planning a beach break. We enjoyed watching the wind-surfers and surfers in the late afternoon whilst the tide was going out.

There are a few little towns along this part of the coastline (between Calais and Bologne) and we didn't get a chance to walk over the sand dunes a couple of miles up the coast as we only stayed for one night. If you enjoy walking there are plenty of routes you can take. Next time we will stay again at the Hotel du Centre but for a couple of nights.

Room Tip: We had a fairly recently refurbished room, I'm not sure that all of them have been updated. We...

We stayed one night here en route to Languedoc. Easy to find and parking was free on street until 9am. I personally found the bed a bit hard but room was lovely and clean and spacious.
We ate at the restaurant which was very busy for a Thursday night. Food was classic French and very good. Waiters were very friendly and helpful. Cafe gourmand was really delicious with large portions. Easy walk to beach and promenade.

Booked online for this hotel because I knew of it before whilst visiting Wimereux. For 5 euro more we should have chosen a room on the first floor, not the second. The steps up are killers, especially if you've had drinks. Hold on to the railings going up. No lifts. No escalators. We packed light because suitcases and lifting bodies are not fun.

Room was o.k., on the back, clean but the wifi packed up after a while. We looked on the backside of the town but saw seagulls in the distance. Nice people at desk. Oh, there's a cat. Looks nice enough but not that sweet.

Restaurant was old world French with lots of middle class English types. We chose not to eat there because the chandeliers were so bright we would have added 10 years to our visages. No open windows, looked hot and sterile in there.

Nice place though. Shame about the steps. Little patio outside with decking, tables and nice trees. They are trying.

Didn't eat the breakfast. Again, the breakfast room was too bright. Had a few expressos though which were good and strong. All we wanted was croissants anyway.

Room Tip: Get the rooms on the first floor, the ones with the bathtubs. Have a look. Also if you don't lik...

Another great stay at the Hotel du Centre! You really can't beat it for it's typical french charm, comfortable, clean rooms, excellent restaurant and a the price! (Last year we stayed at La Goelette b & b on the seafront - more than twice the price for a room and no way as good as the Centre!) Parking at the rear of the hotel at 4.50 euros a day but worth it for the convenience. I would'nt stay anywhere else! Tip: Good breakfast at the hotel for 9.50euros but if you can only manage coffee & croissant (after a large meal the night before in the restaurant) directly opposite the hotel is a delightful patisserie where you can sit in and have coffee and croissant!

I have been using this hotel on a regular basis for over 25 Years The family owners are a delight and food in the restaurant is fantastic The Mussels in a light Curry Sauce, Fish Soup and Creme Brulee are to Die For

The rooms are constantly being upgraded, I have seen many changes over the Years and I have have tried other hotels in Wimereux when the Du Centre has been fully booked but I am never as happy as when I am at the Du Centre I use it either at the start or the end of trips to Europe as it is handy for the Ferry Ports and Tunnel

Room Tip: Garden facing rooms on the first floor are quieter and most have been upgraded
