We have stayed here before and we are not disappointed. Had a suprise room upgrade . The family rooms are very comfortable, with well appointed bathrooms. The food ,as usual excellent in restaurant and menus at 32 and 45 euros.
This is a great stop over en route to the Alps.
Very pleasant staff , with a warm welcome.

The town is worth exploring and the walk round the ramparts gives magnificent views.

Room Tip: We have only ever stayed in rooms on the first floor and they are quiet. The hotel is centrally locat...

Stopped here for one night. Have never been before, but found the experience enchanting. Will try to stop again for longer period.
Just found this on the Internet as a halfway stop south. Arrived on a snowy night in December the walled town was impressive to say the least. Hotel was easy to find, a large billboard on the roadside helped. Reception was welcoming but parking seemed a problem, room only for two vehicles at the hotel door.
Had to leave car keys so owner could park in his garage round the corner.
Room was spacious and warm with lots of hot water.
Restaurant for dinner and breakfast was above average.
All in all a good experience, would like to revisit in the summer.
Would use again. Only downside was lat of parking.

My friend and I have stayed at the Cheval Blanc en route to our skiing holiday for many years now. The welcome is always warm and the staff are very helpful. It is a sign a of well managed hotel that the staff turnover is very low and we see the same people each year. But the main reason for writing this report is to praise the excellent restaurant. The food is first class and beautifully presented. Our holiday would not be complete without a stay at the Cheval Blanc!

Once you have found this hotel in middle of the walled medieval town of Langres, you are in for a treat. Rooms are a bit simple in the annexe, more traditional in the main building, but the food and staff are good, verging on first rate. Parking can be tight at the height of the season, but if your car is full of things (as ours always seems to be), valet parking removes any risk of a break-in because the hotel has several coach houses nearby. As other reviewers have said, dinner is excellent value with wines being sensibly priced, unlike many french hotels where mark-ups are silly. Breakfast is a winner too with lovely breads and hams. We have stayed at a lot of hotels in the run from Provence to Calais (Langres is five hours fom Calais, six from say Marseilles, if Lyon is quickly crossed) and this is the one we go back to time and time again. Try to arrive early enough to walk around the town - the walls give wonderful views and run just behind the hotel so you can have a lovely 15-30 minute stroll within 50 meters of the hotel door......Edward S

Room Tip: annexe rooms are cheapest (say 70/80 euros), main house rooms bigger and more atmospheric. we usuall...

We stayed at Hotel Le Cheval Blanc during our 45th Wedding Anniversary trip in November, 2012. The staff was amazingly kind and helpful and our room in the former church was beautiful and restful. As architects, we loved the harmony of the design of this hotel. Yves and Bridgette Chevalier went out of their way to help us--arranging to park our car, finding us a hotel near the Paris airport and simply being as welcoming as can be. We decided to to stay another night and chose a less expensive room in the annex that was just adequate. Still, the staff was simply wonderful to us. Langres is not a city that many American's visit, but it is so fascinating!

Room Tip: Stay in the main hotel if you can afford it!

Langres is a fascinating town and Le Cheval Blanc is a charming hotel from which to visit it. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The welcome from Mr. Chevallier was warm and genuine and our car was whisked away to secure parking (best to book this as it is obviously a problem). Breakfast was simple but of the highest quality. Langres is a Vauban town and is walled; a walk round the ramparts is a must. The motorway is only a few minutes away but once at the hotel you could be in the middle of nowhere. Peaceful and quiet - just what is needed if you have been driving all day.

Room Tip: We stayed in the annex across the street. Very comfortable. Next time I shall book the main house ju...

All the staff were very welcoming and the car was valet parked. The room was largish, very quiet and the bathroom was very modern indeed with a decent shower. The hotel's restaurant was well above average, the salmon smoked inhouse was beyond historic and the gruesome prices on the wine list was offset by a very decent breakfast at less than 10 Euros a head. In the morning the car was parked in the street ready for the off. All in all a very decent experience with the only downside being the totally unmodernised decoration in the "common parts".

Room Tip: Pay extra for the larger rooms
