“Great location, but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

The location is probably the best element of this hotel, with a great view on the bay of Sozopol (if you have a room on the right side...). But otherwise this places leaves a lot to be desired. The room, the furnishing etc we had (junior suite) are rather out of date and dingy, not giving you the feeling of freshness and cleanliness. The terrace is nice though, watching the sea and enjoying a beer. But breakfast is dismal, with terrible juice and very a limited selection (e.g only 1 type of bread). Parking (of course) is a bit chaotic, but at least free.

The hotel is located on cliffs in the new part of Sozopol and the calm small bay is just under your balcony (if you have a sea view room); across the bay is the Old town, illuminated at night. Clean convenient rooms, friendly staff, good (though not too varied) breakfast.
The location is good for relaxation and also not far from the Old Town: a few minutes to the town beach on the bay seen from your balcony; 3-4 minutes to the public bus stop for other seaside destinations.

Room Tip: Definitely prefer seaview rooms.

We decided on this hotel for our wedding venue as it was tough to find a hotel that would accommodate us so late in the season, that being in mid September.
The hotel manager who was new, had organised our rooms very well despite being bought in late in the season. She was very good in getting us set up for our special weekend.
The food was excellant and the chief really impressed all the Irish guests on the night of their late arrival the night before the wedding. We had a fantastic midnight meal on the balconey while watching the lights of Old Town Sozopol across the bay. It was amazing!
The day after, we held the ceramony in the spectacular Skybar located on the top of the hotel. The staff were fantastic in getting the Skybar ready for our special occassion.
The resturant and outdoor terrace was an excellant venue for the after dinner, with guests moving in and out taking in the ambiance of the sea view. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time at the wedding.
Our guests' main talking points were the fantastic room views on the cliff side of the hotel overlooking the bay. The great rooms had spectacular views like you were floating over the sea.
The rooms were clean and modern. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
For our wedding they gave us the penthouse apartment as a gift which was extremely generous. They provided an excellant wedding package which was excellant value.
We'd like to thank them for making our day unique to everyone who went, Irish and Bulgarian alike, who still talk about it even to this day!
Thank you Hotel Coral from Petya and David.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms were good but the corner rooms have a 270 degree of the sea which are spectacular...

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for two weeks. It was such a nice hotel with a top location! Sadly we didn't get a room with a sea view but made due with the the sun-deck!
The balcony did overlook a street but wasn't disturbing during the day or the night.
A really nice hotel with a small but kinda cold pool, gym (i didn't use it but my boyfriend did) and you could book a massage, love it! The restaurant was good and we ate there a few times, breakfast buffet in the morning with scrambled eggs, toast and fruits etc. The staff was very polite, most of them only know basic english but were always very helpful.
The cleaning was really good, being a slight "neat-freak" this hotel was up to my standard!
Love this hotel and city, would love to go back!

Room Tip: Try (if available) to get a room with a sea view.

The best thing about the Hotel Coral is the gorgeous view from the balcony. It's one of the best views of Sozopol you can get, with the Town Beach to your left and the Black Sea to your right as your gaze is led across the bay towards the walls of the Old Town, which are illuminated when darkness falls. Excellent to sit here and enjoy the view (and a cold beer) in the evenings when the kids are in bed. You'll also have a great view of the Sunday night fireworks. There can be occasional noise from beachfront restaurants or the odd rock concert in town, but if you're used to life in the big city this will only be a minor nuisance and closing the balcony doors will easily shut it out. If you don't get a room with a view, the restaurant, sun terrace and lobby bar are on the same side and have equally great views (there is also a rooftop bar, but I didn't visit it). Swallows swoop over the cliff-top restaurant in the evening, before darkness falls and the bats come out. The rooms have aircon (which you'll need if it's 32 C out, like it was during our stay) and are clean and spacious. There's a deep bath in the bathroom, which my son made full use of (we only have a shower at home). There's a smallish swimming pool (and smaller gym) in the basement, which we never used, what with the Black Sea being five minutes away. Other than that, the hotel does not have any activities for children (apart from watching the Cartoon Network in Bulgarian, of course). We ate at the hotel restaurant every night, and the food there is good - but be prepared for a few misunderstandings, as the staff only know very basic English. However, we had this problem everywhere we ate in Sozopol. The Hotel Coral is also very close to both of the beaches, the Old Town, the town square, the museum, the harbour and the bus station - so it's within easy walking distance of everything. I liked it here and would be happy to stay again.

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view.

Stayed for two nights. Very clean, comfortable and excellent staff. Prices are very competitive, I had an apartment with sea view and balcony, 4 beds and could have accommodated 4-5 people for £60 per night. Nice buffet breakfast, roof bar, outstanding views of the bay and beaches. Quality hotel. Only criticism was that WiFi worked only in the lobby.

My boyfriend and I stayed in a double room in Hotel Coral for 3 nights and spent the time of our lives. We moved there after spending a couple of nights in another hotel which was awful. In Hotel Coral we had a view to the seaside which was truly amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and the prices are good. The only negative thing was that the pool was a bit too cold but the weather was nice so this didn't really spoil our holiday. I would recommend getting a room with a view to the sea... it really is breathtaking! Our room was fantastic. Unlike most double rooms it also had a sofa and a table... I really can't think of any drawbacks of Hotel Coral
