Quite expensive, over 140€ a night, poor welcoming no help with luggage, room nice and big but not "dusted" on furniture for a long while. Not so clean overall. Breakfast wide choice, but "so so quality". Management when approached did not care very much either...if possible stay away.

Austria Trend Hotel Metropol is located in the center of Sankt Pölten, only few minutes from the old town in a quiet surrounding. Rooms are modern, very clean, with comfortable bed. It is a "cyclist-friendly" hotel, with friendly staff, fluent in german and english. Parking is possible in a covered parking garage below the hotel.

The hotel is located a short walk from the old town. It is a large hotel with a very impressive looking entrance with a restaurant and bar. There is a small bar area outside the hotel as well. The room was fairly standard, very clean with a comfortable bed and a bathroom with a bath and shower. Saint Polten is a small town with a market square and some lovely baroque buildings. There are plenty of bars but not so many decent eating places. We did not have breakfast in the hotel so can’t comment but it was a nice hotel in a nice location.

I used this hotel as a base for day trips to Vienna (by train) and the Melk Abbey/Danube River valley areas (by car), and it worked very well for that. Sankt Polten is a relatively small city, and quite quiet, with a small but attractive old town. Melk is about a 30 minute drive away, and Vienna is about a 30 to 40 minute train ride away (depending on the train). From the hotel to the train station itself is about a 10 walk north through the old town.

Positives: Comfortable and quite spacious room, very clean, good wireless access, convenient underground parking (at extra cost), excellent breakfast with large selection, quiet area, some interior rooms look out over a large courtyard (really the neighbour's backyards, but they are nicely landscaped), helpful front-desk staff who all speak very good English.

Negative (minor): Some of the hallways have the smell of stale smoke. My room was non-smoking, however, and smelled fresh with no smoke smell whatsoever.

If you plan to use the parking garage, you can drive directly into it before checking in, take a ticket at the parkade entrance, then take the elevator up to the lobby and just inform the front desk when you check in that you are parking undergound.

Checked here in this hotel on business for five nights. Very good location, silent hotel, frequented by groups and kept busy also by business meeting groups. I would compare this hotel equivalent or less than a Holiday Inn Express hotel in China. The restaurant is not 24 hours, no business center, no fitness center, no toiletries in the room, no A/c adjustment in the room, no dry line in the wash room, very same breakfast menu on all days! Ofcourse there is something which I need to say of the pros....very good front end staff, all speaking excellent English, very nice motherly attitude lady working at the restaurant in the mornings enquiring so kindly of the needs, walking distances - very near to Khim restaurant, an Asian cuisine restaurant, five minutes away from the famous Rathausplatz, ten minutes away from the railway station....in fact my work place was later found to be 15 minutes walking distance......pity that by culture all shops get closed at around six in the evening and u have nowhere to go.....in all I find no fault with this property though it lacks certain facilities on relative terms....safe place and quiet place.

Room Tip: Get rooms that are not facing the lift doors

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel as it was located in the centre of Sankt Pölten, beautiful small Baroque town.
I was acommpanying a group of 40 young ice-hockey players and I really apprciated the hotel's patience and professionalism as the guys needed to store their equipment in the luggage room and needed a bus to be parked right next to the hotel.
The hotel stuff was helpful, responsive and very friendly.
Also the breakfast is a worth mentioning - very tasty, rich choice and nicely set tables.
What about rooms they were very clean, with relaxing atmosphere and environmentally friendly thinking. You can choose if you wanna replace or reuse your towels and linen.
Enjoy your stay, Betty
