“O-M-G”
Reviewed June 15, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Where shall I begin, with one of the best experiences of my life?? As soon as I saw this listing, and I had looked at dozens, I knew this was where we had to stay! I was delighted to find out our dates were available, and spoke directly with the owner Claire, who was so easy and lovely to plan with! Now for the property~~this was our second time to the Uvita area, so we knew the beauty of it, but after arriving at Casa Aracari, it took beauty to a whole new level. Yes, we had seen the Whale's Tail, but not like this! You do need a good 4 wheel drive vehicle with good ground clearance to get there, but for me and my husband, this was part of the appeal! We arrived just when the sun was getting ready to set, which is one of the most magical times in Costa Rica, when the sounds of the jungle come alive, pure heaven for me. The house and property are every bit as beautiful (no, more) as what you see in the listing. Entering the house feasted our eyes with such beauty, everywhere you look you are filled with peace. Then, you open the doors to the outside, where the pool and patio are located, with ab-so-lute-ly the best view of the Pacific and Marino Ballena National Park (aka Whale's Tail) We were in our own little piece of paradise, completely private. I am a horticulturist, so on our first full day there, we strolled slowly through the gardens, which are filled with the most beautiful tropical plants and fruits! There is a lime tree, and a star fruit tree, with perfectly ripe fruit. Casa Aracari is an experience in itself, you don't even need to leave! I will hopefully return, sooner rather than later!

Loved every part of our trip. Claire was very kind and helpful. This was the perfect house for 1-2 families. Waking up to the beautiful sunrises and sounds of the jungle was amazing. We will definitely be back :)

“A bit of paradise in Costa Rica”

Casa Aracari is spectacular and one of the nicest properties we have ever stayed at. The home is harder to reach as it is up a mountain and in the rainy season, a 4x4 vehicle is a must. I would not recommend that you travel after dark the first time up the mountain as it is harder to find the home. Once you arrive, you will fall in love with this home. You feel like you are the only ones on the mountain, giving you lots of privacy, but there are neighbors just down the street so you are not feeling isolated or vulnerable. Every morning we saw toucans in the trees, hummingbirds, hundreds of butterflies, and monkeys. The owner, Claire, exceeded our expectations and was very responsive to each and every question we had. I would highly recommend staying at Casa Aracari and look forward to our next visit there.

“Paradise in the Jungle!”
Reviewed August 12, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

I wish I could lie and give Casa Aracari a horrible review so I could keep the place to myself! It is paradise. From the moment you arrive and walk through the door, you are taken aback by the gorgeous jungle surrounding, stylish decor, and phenomenal view of the Whale's Tail. I actually could envision myself spinning and singing like Julie Andrews on the mountain top in the Sound of Music!

Within our first 24 hours, we saw toucans, parrots, a coati, tons of really cool insects, butterflies, geckos, lizards, toads, and dart frogs. We were woken up by the howler monkeys that hung out in the trees across the road and fell asleep to the sound of the tink frogs.

The house has everything you need, including tons of cookware and bakeware and any kitchen utensil you would ever need. They even had a good stock of plastic containers and a cooler to take a picnic lunch to the beach. Uvita has 2 grocery stores and a good little bakery, with almost everything you'd find in a Canadian or American grocery store (just on a smaller scale). They also had a good stock of books, games, and DVD's for evening entertainment.

The only thing you need to consider before booking this gorgeous house is your comfort level driving up the mountain road to reach Casa Aracari. You NEED a 4x4 with a good engine and good tires. We rented a 4-cylinder Daihatsu Terios and we had to put in low, turn on the 4x4, turn off your air conditioning, and hit the gas hard to get up the mountain switchbacks, which are very steep, and the gravel is quite rough and bumpy. The drive is beautiful and a huge part of the adventure, but if you have fears and anxiety, this isn't the place for you...(however, many of the most beautiful homes and resorts are up this same road, so it is well traveled and maintained).

The property owner and property manager are wonderful to work with. They shared tons of information on the area and anticipated many of my questions so I felt very comfortable and well informed before our arrival.

If you are the type of traveler who wants to get away from the crowds and live in nature, Casa Aracari and the community of Uvita is for you. The beaches, wildlife, waterfalls, and jungle vegetation of Uvita was far superior to Manuel Antonio (which is crazy busy and expensive, kind of like jungle Disney World), and I would recommend getting here before the masses find this place! You won't regret it!

“Breathtaking beauty and tranquil surroundings make Casa Aracari unforgettable!”
Reviewed April 5, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The unique setting of Casa Aracari which overlooks the Whale's Tail, the beautiful Pacific Ocean as well as the mountain backdrop near Uvita is completely breathtaking and captivates one's heart. The house is well equipped with everything needed to prepare fresh meals, enjoy a relaxing dip in the infinity pool and to savor the luxury of such a well appointed home. The construction of the home is intriguing with many delightful surprises incorporated in the design. The furnishing are beautiful, crafted by local artisans with native exotic woods. Chaise lounges and several hammocks beckon one to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the rain forest. Toucans, aracari, and other birds are plentiful as are the butterflies, bullfrogs, and geckos. Tropical plants and flowers abound throughout the artistically landscaped grounds. Pineapples, bananas and papayas can all be found growing on the property. One can sit for hours mesmerized while observing the wildlife and soaking in the beauty of this quiet, serene setting. The owners, Claire and Bud are quick to respond and helpful with information on the area and the property. Our stay was an unforgettable "highlight" of our lives, and I will forever remember with joy and gratitude the opportunity to experience this extraordinary place...a taste of heaven on earth!
