If you're staying in the Uvita area, this a quick, cheap and fun trip. As most have already said, its costs $1, is about a 2 minute hike and you can spend hours swimming, sliding and relaxing away from the sun. I was pretty badly burnt when I went, so it was a good spot to get away from the sun and cool off. Totally recommend it. If you're unsure as to where it is, just ask the resort your staying at or a local; you're sure to get an answer as to where it is. Just turn east up the road where the bank/supermarket plaza is located on the east side of Highway 34 in Uvita.

Walking from town would be dusty, but we had a car and it's just a short hike from the road/restaurant. We ate at the restaurant as well, and the food was quite good.

Hiked instead of taking horseback. Although the hike is long and not for the unfit, it was great exploring the area. Be sure you take plenty of water as it is very mountainous and a picnic lunch if you are going it on your own. Water shoes may also be a good idea since the rocks get very hot when trying to step on them to get in the water which is very cool (a welcome temp. after the hike). Even during dry season, the falls were running good.

It's only a $1 fee. Short hike on some dirt path and need to climb some rocks to get to the actual waterfall...so make sure you wear sneakers. Once you get the waterfall...very pretty and fun. You can swim , jump off the top b/c its very deep or actually slide down the waterfall itself. Once your done, hike back up and grab a bite to eat or a smoothie at the litte waterfall restaurant. Its a must see.

I am sure in all of Costa Rica this is not a big waterfall, but it is lovely none the less. However, you cannot ask for easier access not far up a dirt road off the main highway. We were there in the dry season and it still was a nice view and a cool place to wet your feet on a cool day or take a dip. The way down to the falls is a little tricky and back up is even more so due to the slippery path. Be careful! There is a cool shady bar area to rest at the top of the hill. We enjoyed adult beverages but did not eat. The bathrooms were very clean.
