“Fantastic location, Wow wow wow”

It is very hard to give this place justice. I stayed at Casitas Del Rio and researched the place online before hand. It looked beautiful online and was out of this world in real life. Steven and Rachel where great hosts from the moment I arrived to the moment I left, almost 3 weeks later. They provided informative information about the local attractions and places to visit and good restaurants. The gardens were outstanding with a vast variety of plants that attracted all the wild life but across the scenic Morete river is pure thick jungle where the sounds of the Howler monkies echoed around the valley each morning. I had humminig birds right in front of me and on one day Rachel called me over to see a sloth crawling on the floor to its next tree. The river on days is crystal blue and I had the rare opportunity to view a river otter. I spent a few days reading on my balcony with the beautiful sounds of the jungle as a back drop and watched the sun set over the trees. On the days I ventured out I went to the local beaches which are a short drive of 5 minutes and all the local amenities where also available there for anything I needed to cook a meal on the evening. My Casita was called the Macaw suit and was immaculately clean, and modern, it also had a smoothy maker, grill, coffee maker, microwave, cooler for the beach, mini bar and everything you need to cook meals. Great value, best location in the area and friendly hosts,To conclude I really didn't want to go home. And will be back.

“Peaceful retreat in the jungle along a refreshing river, yet only minutes from the Costanera Sur Hwy”
Reviewed August 25, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

It's clear from the moment you interact with Rachel and Steve, that they know how and take pride in how they manage their vacation rental casitas. As everyone has already stated, the location is wonderfully situated next to Rio Morete, and near enough to the main town center. Rachel and Steve welcomed us on arrival day with a tour of the property, showed us our room and then served us ice cold beers and snacks. Wow! What a welcome, considering we had just drove 2.5 hours from the south. The casita was small, but had everything that we needed. We especially liked the cold beverages for purchase in the mini fridge. Unexpected for a casita vacation rental. Also, a nice touch was the information booklet that Rachel put together with a list of restaurants and activities in the Uvita and general coastal area. Very comprehensive detailed information.
The premises are beautifully landscaped and inviting. You'll want to have your morning coffee or evening wine on the deck overlooking the river. Just to sit in silence watching the varieties of birds and wildlife visitors was a daily treat.
We loved casitas so much, we've already decided we are coming back.
Thank you Rachel and Steve for making our stay so memorable!

“Paradise - stay here”
Reviewed August 6, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The Casitas are beautiful, calming pieces of paradise and the welcome from Steve and Rachel just adds to the feeling that this place is special. Every morning there I lost track of time just sitting on the balcony watching the different hummingbirds of every colour and size. We also saw a sloth and two toucans in the garden. The river or Rio is also a lovely place to sit and cool off when it gets hotter. Can't wait to go back.

“The best accomodation what we had in Costa Rica!”
Reviewed July 29, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Beautifully, modernly and clean furnished private houses in a beautiful garden with blooming wild river. Every morning we were welcomed by hummingbirds flying around us. Every place and corner there is very relaxing - small paradise! The owners Rachel and Steve are really nice and helpful couple. Casitas Del Rio was the best place and accomodation we had in Costa Rica, we had great relaxing time there. (we were sleeping on many different places in whole country).
Thank you Rachel and Steve, next time in Costa Rica we will go to your place!

“Perfect getaway”
Reviewed June 23, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We spent four nights at the Casita and had a great time. The river is very peaceful and the casitas are very well furnished and styled. We asked Rachel to make some of our arrangements before we arrived and she was very helpful and informative. The property can be hard to find at first, but after a few trips into town we had it down. The ranch down the road has a great horseback beach ride. The rock river can be a bit difficult to wade through but its worth it. Bring aqua-sock type shoes if possible.

“Uvita Jungle Experience”
Reviewed May 20, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

I visited Casitas Del Rio from April 27th - April 30th, 2015. First impression was over whelming due to arriving in the middle of the night and arriving into the unknown jungle. After experiencing the electricity going out every night for several hours I have a greater appreciation of nature.
The jungle sounds were sorta creepy at night but during the day the views made up for the disappointments in the evening.

We did not get a chance to meet Rachel but her husband Steve was very accommodating.

Management Response
May 29, 2015
Hello
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Every guest we have had stay at Casitas Del Rio has also been overwhelmed by our beautiful accommodation, hospitality, gardens and our unique jungle setting, close to the Morete River.
The sounds of the howler monkeys, sloths and exotic birds are normally comforting sounds and why people visit Costa Rica so, we apologise if you found the sounds of nature disturbing in the evening.
Power cuts in Uvita are rare, and during your stay, you witnessed two power cuts for two hours, which affected every hotel, home and local business. This is not normal for the area, and as you can appreciate this was completely out of our control. You were great, entertaining guests and we look forward to seeing you again soon, happy travels.

“A truly authentic jungle experience”
Reviewed May 15, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I began coordinating with Steve and Rachel a few weeks out from our trip and they were both always very responsive. I chose the casitas based on other reviews and the fact that it was in the jungle close to the river. The property is wonderfully landscaped and the river is literally a rocks throw away. Rachel was out of town the few days we stayed so we missed her hospitality that all the reviews raved about, however Steve was a fantastic and gracious host accommodating us in every way from a few market runs (we didn't have a car) to even helping in the middle of the night get rid of gecko that wanted to stay in our room LOL! Now that I've visited this area I understand why Uvita is slowly becoming more popular among tourists. If you're looking for a truly authentic and rustic jungle experience with wonderfully gracious hosts, Steve and Rachel's casitas would be a fantastic option! Thanks so much for a most memorable experience!!!
