This was my first time visiting Costa Rica and WOW what a trip. It's an amazing place and Tiki Villas is the place to stay. Tiki Villas made for the best experience possible. It is right in the middle of the jungle, so you can go to sleep to the sounds of the rain forest. My favorite part was that you had a huge door that opened to the jungle and you had the option to keep that opened or closed (I liked it open during the day and closed at night). I recommend the day trip to the Osa Peninsula, hiking to the waterfalls, horseback riding, and the zip line. The service there is so friendly and they will help you in any way possible including recommending great restaurants and day trips . They even helped me get really good pictures of the wildlife. The local breakfast served is fantastic also. This was my favorite vacation ever. I highly recommend Tiki Villas.

I'm 15 years old, a resident of Costa Rica and have been constantly visiting for 9 years. This was my best trip so far! Stayed at Tiki Villas. It was right in the jungle. Richard and Minor were there to help with everything, from finding and identifying the animals around the hotel, to recommending great restaurants and day trips. My favorite was a day trip to the Osa Peninsula. I cannot wait to go back again.

My partner, my 23 year old daughter and I stopped here for one night on the way down to the Osa Peninsula based on the previous reviews and we were not disappointed! It was absolutely beautiful. We shared an amazing villa with amazing views with completely fold-back window-doors which made the high-up villa seem part of the jungle. Loads of space. There was a very basic kitchenette with very few kitchen tools but we'd bought cold meat and salad and just about managed. We hadn't wanted to drive out to find a meal and enjoyed eating our meal on the deck. The bar area and infinity pool are glorious too and we were given the most fabulous (free) banana cocktail when we arrived. The drive up is interesting indeed and though not very far, certainly not possible without a 4x4 - it's very steep and bumpy!

There are two showers next to each other - one inside and one outside. We all opted for the outside one - it was a peculiar feeling but most unusual and enjoyable and we just hoped there were no gardeners about!

We also all opted for the Costa Rican breakfast which was fabulous.

The stay too was incredibly good value.

The only downside about this lovely place is that you can hear the main road down below. Otherwise it's gorgeous and I would thoroughly recommend it.

We traveled to TikiVillas in February 2013 for our honeymoon.

We rented a 4x4 from the airport and drove to the lodge arriving pretty late in the evening. It was a bit difficult to find in the dark, but the GPS that came with our rental was pretty accurate. I was a little scared of the driveway up to the lodge, but I think my husband enjoyed that!

The villas were beautiful. They were open, had amazing views of the ocean, and the sounds of the jungle. The dining area was beautiful as well. Breakfast was one of our favorite parts of the day as we would sip our Costa Rican coffee, chat with other guests, and take in the scenery. The breakfast was delicious! Get the Costa Rican Typico everyday- it was so good! The pool was small with an outstanding view of the ocean. It was so refreshing after a day at the beach and was never crowded.

The service was amazing. We requested a couples massage which they organized for us with two local masseuses coming to our villa. The staff was always there to answer any questions and give us advice on local beaches or restaurants. They were welcoming and accommodating. We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend TikiVillas to anyone traveling to Uvita!

We saw that TikiVillas was for sale, but we looked forward to staying there because of the comments on Tripadvisor on how helpful Thomas and Cindy are. Thomas has a lot of good advice in the Uvita forum. We we arrived we were told the hotel was sold to a group of investors, and that Thomas and Cindy are no longer there. I think they might be part of the investment group but I'm not sure---Thomas might give us some input on that. Richard was quite helpful with problems we had with the internet in our room, which was restored the second day we were there. The villas are very pretty and modern. They all have a nice balcony where we sat out when the skies opened up during a huge downpour complete with thunder and lightning. It was magical. There is a king bed and a single bed in most of the villas, or a king bed and a desk. They all have air conditioning now. They also have kitchenettes with a refrigerator and hot plate, but not a microwave. The disadvantage of staying there is that there is no restaurant on site, and you are somewhat remote and have to drive to other restaurants, which is fine for lunch, but more of an issue after dark when driving in Costa Rica is more of a challenge. They have a menu from the Whales and Dolphins restaurant, and said a taxi will bring it to the hotel for $10, but there are no dining tables in the room. Playa Hermosa, our favorite beach in Costa Rica, is just down the road. Uvita is a beautiful destination to experience some nature and get away and relax.

Dear Shooie123, We apologize we did not meet you to welcome you in person during your two night stay. However the heading of the review is not correct, and there appears to be some miss information. We would like to reassure all our future guests that TikiVillas is as always under the same management and NOT in any way under new management as the title of this review suggests. Both Cindy & myself as owners and hosts continue to run every aspect of TikiVillas day to day to the smallest detail as always with the help of our team with the same hospitality our guests have come to appreciate.

We are exited with our new project of a full restaurant serving lunch, dinner and snacks using fresh locally sourced ingredients from November 2013. In the meantime we do offer a delicious complimentary full breakfast in the guest private club house as well as Dinner from a local Costarican restaurant (Marino Ballena) delivered for our guest convenience and served in the guest club house (and may I add it is reasonably priced even with delivery with no extra charges by us for the service and plating) as well as a full bar offering everything from tea & coffee to wines, beers, tropical cocktails and our signature famous banana colada with organic bananas grown on the property throughout the day.

We are glad to hear you enjoyed the Villas and the spectacular views from the balcony as well as our local blue flag beach – Playa Hermosa. We hope the opportunity to welcome you again to TikiVillas! Pura Vida! Cindy & Thomas

We chose TikiVillas based on the reviews on TripAdvisor, almost thinking it was too good to be true. We spent seven wonderful days there, and we can tell you it is as amazing and comfortable and beautiful as everyone else has said. I believe the commitment of the owners to the environment and the local community makes the extra magic of this beautiful hideaway.

There are five villas, and each one is spacious and private. The sleeping area has a king size bed and a side area with a desk. The bathroom has a large indoor shower attached to a private outdoor shower, which was very nice after a day in the jungle. Beside the bathroom is a large walk-in closet with a safe. The bedroom area has large doors that open onto a balcony with a breath-taking view of the pacific ocean. We slept with the doors open, and we woke up to jungle noises and sunshine every morning. We saw toucans, agouti, and various other birds from our room. We also heard the howler monkeys every morning. In addition, there is a nice kitchenette with a refrigerator, coffee maker, sink, and hot plate. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day.

At the main area of the villas is an open air eating/lounging area where we could get drinks, eat a traditional Costa Rican breakfast, or splash about in the infinity pool. Every morning we were offered delicious fresh fruits, eggs, bacon, gallo pinto, pancakes, and that tasty Costa Rican coffee. We really felt relaxed and at home.

With all these terrific elements, I have saved the best for last. The service provided by the staff at the villas was --bar none-- the best we have ever experienced. Richard served breakfast, drew maps, made reservations, and refused no request we made. Minor (hope my spelling is correct) hoisted luggage through the rain, chased off critters from the porch, and took pictures for us. We would return from a day of adventure, and both would instantly appear with water, towels, and whatever else we needed. Richard's fresh mango colada was the BEST! They made our vacation a truly memorable experience, and we consider them friends.

So go to TikiVillas! This was our first trip to Costa Rica, and it won't be our last. Pura vida!

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Villas #5 and #2 are probably the most private.

I traveled to Costa Rica this month with my 2 grown children, ages 19 and 20, and TikiVillas was a favorite landing spot for us. First, Richard and Mainor greeted us as we drove up and made our entire stay of 6 days delightful. By the time we left, we felt we had made 2 new friends. The open main area, the pool, the views, and the delicious breakfasts could not have been more inviting. Our villa (#3) had an amazing view of the forest and the Pacific, was very clean, and had a delightful outdoor shower, as well as an indoor shower. The kitchen was a nice plus, as well. We did not want air conditioning because we liked to open up the wall facing the ocean and sleep with fans on and natural night sounds--we found them comforting and actually got a bit chilly at night. However, I know that some people prefer a more American style of sleeping with closed walls, night sounds shut out, and less humidity--you can do this, as well, if it's what you prefer. But we loved the fact that we could open an entire side of the villa up, be in the middle of nature and all its sounds, enjoy some neighborly visits from the wildlife, and feel as if we were living outside. This is why we came to Costa Rica! We will definitely try to return to this get-away. It's first class, lovely, and we felt as if we were treated a bit like family (also--the banana coladas are amazing!). Thank you, Richard, Mainor, and Cindy! Notes: I highly recommend eating dinner at Exotica in Ojochal while you're here--for a memorable meal--Richard will make reservations for you. We also greatly enjoyed the popular day-long riding trail to a nearby waterfall for $60 each, which included a light breakfast and delicious lunch and lessons/help from the guides on waterfall jumping. We weren't as enthusiastic about the day-long snorkeling trip to Cano Island, simply because we're used to snorkeling in the Caribbean and found the Pacific waters a bit choppy and lacking in visibility. For the calmest swimming waters, I recommend going out to the whale's tail at Play Uvita at low tide.

Dear DelilahSparkle, thank you very much for your wonderful review and choosing to stay with us and we are so happy you enjoyed your 6 days with us. Glad you enjoyed Villa #3 and the open plan option to be part of the nature. TikiVillas was inspired by the rainforest and the magic that surrounds the land when we designed it. We wanted our guests to experience this special link we have with nature in this highly biodiverse environment and are so glad to hear it works. We are in the process of rolling out new services and facilities for our guest enjoyment including accepting credit cards on location, full first class restaurant for lunch and dinner and we hope to see you all soon again!
