I had visited this property in Oct/ Nov 2008 with family and it wasn't an unpleasant experience so when we planned a last minute trip over a long weekend this April (18th - 21st) with friends we decided to not get too experimental and ventured back to Gautam and we sure were not disappointed.
Rooms: We opted for the Superior rooms (they face the garden and also the dining area/ parking lot) - so make sure you specify you want the ones facing the garden, though it also means that since the doors open straight into the room, you can't afford to leave the door ajar (and if you do it is at an absolute loss of your privacy). We had opted for the same rooms even in 2008 but they have redone the rooms and these are aesthetically done up better than before. Fixtures and fittings and faucets in the room & bathroom are new and very good though the bathroom lacks a dry and wet area but it didn't bother us much. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and housekeeping service was prompt. One of our friends had opted for the Pool facing rooms for 1 night and they switched to Superior Rooms the next day as the AirCon in their pool facing room was extremely noisy. Also hot water supply hours are limited in the pool facing rooms but in the superior rooms we had no such concerns. The Superior rooms on the first floor are bigger than the ones on the ground floor so perhaps if you are 3 in a room, you would prefer the first floor rooms (no lift though). However the sit-outs are nicer if you are on the ground floor.
Food: Apparently, Gautam is known for its Gujarati Thali but we had not opted for the food package as we had cars and were gonna be out and about so didn't want to be bound to the Hotel for meals. But in 2008, we had opted for meals and I recall not being overly impressed or disappointed with the same. They do not have a la carte meals so either you opt for their package or you eat out and the only thing we were told we would get in Room Service was Tea/ Coffee/ Toast Butter, which we called for every morning as also 1 night and it was perfectly prompt and suited our palettes.
Property: It's not a very big resort in terms of size but it's really nice and cosy without being crammed (even though it was full on 2 out of the 3 nights we were there). Beautiful flowers, trees, landscaping, swing-sets & slides in the children's play area in the garden and the best part is that the property overlooks the valley!!! So you can just sit in the garden or even in the sit-outs (outside your ground floor rooms) and enjoy the weather, the cool fresh breeze and the green hills. Despite it being summer time, as long as you sit in the shade the temperature is very pleasant.
