“Best of the Best”
Reviewed November 21, 2009

I had just been for a Monsoon vacation fr Mahabaleshwar from 24th to 28th june. The hotel rates per night are dirt cheap at this time.
We paid around Rs. 1000 per day for 4 ppl...UNBELIEVABLE...But The experience was tooooooo good. The service was up to the mark. Food was excellent.
Best Experience: 1. ONLY Rs 1000 per night, for a room with 2 Double beds.
2. Excellent food. Gujrati cuisine.
3. Service up to the mark.
4. Rs. 1000 also includes sight seeing . About 10 points in Mahabaleshwar, Panchgani.

  • Liked — Excellent food. Gujrati cuisine.

The golden days for Rajesh are over. The once popular hotel has little to offer to the younger generation. Old style rooms, with amenities fewer than in a budget hotel, isnt the ideal holiday place to be in.

The room package has all meals included. Breakfast is buffet where more variety is desired and while the taste of food isnt a problem, they definitely need to learn how to keep food warm n fresh. Lunch and dinner are strictly gujarati style thalis - unlimited. But you will surely get tired of that food after a couple of meals and yearn to eat out. They serve snacks - The "Snack of the day" as they call it during tea time. Do note no other food other than "Snack of the day" and basic beverages like Tea, Coffee etc is available for room service - strict timings to be followed for food

The hotel is ideal for old people, they'll find good company there. Or for couples with infants as cradle is provided. But surely not for the younger crowd or couples on honeymoon as you are constantly disturbed all morning by separate people who want to make up your bed, to clean the toilet, to change the water etc. They do not clean your room otherwise. The biggest joke is that the check-out time is 8 am sharp. Who would like to wake up before 8 am on a holiday and check out for the hotel?

The hotel has a swimming pool, table tennis table, mini park with swings, slides etc for kids. The biggest convenience is that the hotel is walking distance from the bus stand as well as the market, half an hour walk away from Mahabaleshwar's main attraction - the lake, which is about 7 mins drive away.

It no longer has the charm and the fancy it held when we were kids

If you a young couple with small chidlrens PLEASE DO NOT Visit this Hotel. This hotel is specially for old people who like the home food. The food is very home type gujarati food. if you expect some fast food in evening then you will be at great mistake. The timinigs of breakfast lunch and dinner are also very binding. you could not get you breakfast in your room. Very poor Room Service.

Hotel Rajesh is our dodgy companion whenever we travel to Mahabaleshwar, the reasons are as under :

(a) large spacious rooms (stay in the classic rooms as they do not have noisy raucous holiday makers)
(b) close to the market place and bus stand (and at the same time affording all the comforts of a peaceful environs)
(c) great amazing gujarati food (but after the second day, if you are a non vegetarian you will start craving for some more as their restauant is only veg)
(d) affordable (compared to the other good hotels in mahabaleshwar, we have found out Rajesh offers the biggest value for money in this town)

yes, we get bored of the food and the despondent town views at some times, but trust me for the other reasons mentioned here, Rajesh takes the money any time.
