“Honeywood Genuine Review”

Rooms and room service is good. But the distance at which this place from the actual town is way too far and taxis would charge you 200-300 rupees either for a pickup and drop. Room tariff should be lesser for this one simple logical reason. Rs. 2000.00 per night is really not worth it for its distance and the atmosphere and environment is also not that great as described and shown in pictures on the sites. Pictures of the place and the rooms on the site are misleading. Food is also poor in terms of quality, quantity and price. Overall nothing to miss if you don't stay here.

Room Tip: Please check for the cleanliness of the room before checking in for sure.

Honey Wood is located perfectly in hilly area and you can feel the beauty of nature in its surroundings. They serve amazing and home cooked food. But make sure that you place your order very well in advance. The staff is very humble and co-operative.
They also arrange for a local vehicle for sight seeing.
We had been there during monsoon -heavy showers so rooms were little damp but that is unavoidable. Make sure that you carry extra woolies during monsoon.

It was a very pleasant stay at HoneyWood. More than value for money. Very peaceful , beautiful and serene. This 3 star rated holiday homes is at par with the so called 5 stars . Rooms are spacious, neat n clean. Hall n dining is more than welcome as it becomes very difficult to step out due to the unrelenting rain in the monsoon. It looses out due to the limited facilities . But our kids did enjoy the play park and the garden areas. Food was great. Staff was attentive. It's nicely tucked away in the heart of the forest. If you want a true getaway and a peaceful break this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Cottage, for families.

We went to this hotel for the weekend. This was our second time to Mahabaleshwar.

Cons
Lots of insects in the room as it was on the ground floor
Far from bus stop and market
TV set was not working properly
Late risers (coffee after 8AM only)
Poor mattresses on the beds

Pros
Spacious
Owners mentioned in advance that it would be pretty basic
Close to all points
Staff was helpful

Suggestions
In the middle of the forest, far from the main market, go only if you already have been to Mahabaleshwar and have your own vehicle.

Review
Overpriced

Room Tip: Preferably go for the first floor.

We are always open to and welcome reviews .
The guest stayed with us during peak monsoon season in Mahabaleshwar, which receives as much as 350 inches of rain due to which a few harmless insects must have entered the room as we are located in the heart of the reserved forest area. Our staff promptly took care it after it was brought to our notice. As for the rest, we believe the other reviews posted speak for themselves.

Nestled in the woods far far away from the maddening crowds we discover Honeywood!
Mahabaleshwar, this time of the year - categorised on every hotel's site as the 'Peak Season' is a circus. Traffic jams, hawkers, unruly drivers, screaming kids, near crazy parents, honeymoon couples - et all!!
Then to escape from it all into this paradise is sure bliss!
A lovely property situated in an amazingly beautiful locale, really large and spacious rooms, warm un-intrusive service and fresh home cooked meals! Holidays don't get much better than this...
Thank you Mrs & Mr Chinoy for sharing this really Special place with us!
We shall be back soon :)

At the tip of the forest small quaint and very pretty. warm staff very helpful . Food was good, we also enjoyed a barbeque. the free internet wifi was An added bonus. Rooms give u a colonial feel . large and airy. staff at honeywood also organised cycles on hire for us so we could check out the nearby points.. Fun .. Definately recommended . Stay away from this place - especially in winters. People who are running it have no sense of customer service or common sense. We booked a cottage with full payment in advance with a steep price hoping to have a quality time with Family. Cottage size was quite good but interiors/furniture were pretty basic. It was very cold and thankfully hot water was available 24x7. But a big surprise was waiting for us. Instead of thick warm blankets or quilt they provided super-thin flannel sheets. When we asked the caretaker for something more suitable for the Christmas winter he shrugged. We demanded to talk to the manager but nobody turned up. We couldn't get much sleep for the whole stay even after exhausting all our warm cloths at night.

Bed tea in the morning is provided only after 8AM even though sun rises at 7AM. Dinner never comes before 9:30PM irrespective of whenever you asked for it. Basically they have just 2-3 servants managing everything while the owner is busy counting money. There is no enough parking for even 3-4 vehicles and one morning we had to wait for 20 mins just because another guest parked the car in driveway and was not available in the morning. Also as the place is in secluded area with dark thin roads you can't take chance of coming in late or walking around at nights.

Overall there are better hotels in mahabaleshwar with quarter of the price of this.

We would like to inform Mr Arav that we have owned and managed Honeywood for the past 10 yrs and have provided service to reputed corporate companies like Satyam Computers etc, and have enjoyed a long standing relation with them and various other clients who have stayed with us and appreciated our warm hospitality. A client base which we have built through trust, goodwill and personalized service.
Our holiday home as mentioned is a 'holiday home" and not a five star hotel which our tariff also suggests. We do not provide 24hrs round the clock house keeping service and are always willing to make exceptions as the need arises. The extra blanket requested by this particular client was at 12am midnight, in spite of our staff which had by then retired to their quarters by 11.30pm, obliged to the clients request. The blanket provided was a standard good quality blanket used by hoteliers all over Mahabaleshwar. As for dinner being served at 9.30pm was only 1/2 hour after the client placed their order which is fair considering all our orders for meals are taken 2 hrs in advance.
Mahabaleshwar is overcrowded and full of vehicles during season time, being one of the most popular hill stations in India. Therefore we have clients who prefer quite and green surroundings which are located away from the busy and crowded market area. Duchess Road is one of the most prestigious locations in Mahabaleshwar and is address to top hotels like Brightlands resort and Ramsukh resorts. It also is a beautiful place for walks. We have had many clients appreciate the tranquility and quiet location of Honeywood
We at Honeywood strive to make our clients holiday a memorable one.
