Well, first advantage you notice about this hotel is its location. Right in the center of the city. Main market is just 2 minutes walking distance. All the service like Cab, tourist Taxi , guides, food joints, local market are just at the door step of the hotel.

It also has wide varieties of rooms from simple one to luxury cottages- Choose your preferred one. hotel has swimming pool.

Rooms and bathroom accessories are bit of old type, that might be because hotel it self old.

I visited Mahabaleshwar last year with my family.

It's a different expirence as we chosen the rainy season. This is very calm and cool place. Pets are not allowed at this hotel but the owner's dog can loitter arround.

As the hotel is situated at the bus station you can do great shopping.

We also visited Pratapgarh Fort wich is arround 20 KM away

you must have a hotel when you go out visiting places away from your house, that must tend to give maximum against what your house gives- in terms of comfortable and soothing environment, good food, comfort at all levels at affordable prices.
Having said above, when I am in Mahabaleshwar, I always prefer to stay in Shreyas.
Its location, surroundings, the class of public visiting for parties and for lunches and dinners, its food and room decor, facilities and comfort is just what one should have at the affordable price. And precisely this balancing I experience in Shreyas.
Cleanliness, in room, in dining hall just what is expected in normal house.
Service, just the same way, on time. Quality of food, service excellent.
In short, a person who enjoys a middle or higher middle class living, who is not looking only inside the room and gets confined to it with TV on, one who enjoys the greenery surrounding you, and one who is not very keen to spend too much on showing off, Shreyas is a very ideal place. In real sence I can say it is-Home away from Home.

First of all, you can't book any room at Mahabaleshwar through phone. Any hotel you call up says "No room availability, but you can come here and try your luck". Also, most of the hotels we enquired only go by rates on an entire weekend basis(which is negotiable if you want a room for one night only). So we landed at Hotel Shreyas, hoping we'd get a decent room to spend the night.

The hotel is unassuming from the outside, looking like a an old 2 storey building. It leaves you wondering how it has enough space to house a swimming pool like it claims. The reception area also leaves you wondering about the cleanliness of the rooms. Worn out and shabby carpets lead you on to the reception lobby. The man at the reception desk is friendly at first,a myth only to be shattered later. After asking him for the price of a room for a family of 5, he says that he has a room, but it will have to be supplemented with extra beds for our stay. And the total cost of this - brace yourself - would be 5k for a night! No A/C, one single bed, and it was 5k. Since this was the only hotel that was close to all the places we wanted to visit, and since we wanted to stay for one night alone, we decided to take the plunge.

The room boy led us upstairs, and to our amazement we discovered that the hotel has been constructed in such a way as to not waste even a single inch of space! There's only one floor, but it houses around 30 - 40 rooms. Again the floor carpets were dirty and shabby, the stair railings weren't exactly clean, and neither were the walls. We were shown to our room - which seemed decent at the first glance.

The beds were all right, covered with what looked like almost white linen. The bathroom looked all right but the flush tank and the sink was not all that clean. Once the bath room was used, it began to smell unless left open for a period of time.

The restaurant opens at 8pm for dinner and they had a buffet including rice, rotis and dal, sabji, veg manchow soup, and a variety of other items. All in all,the dinner was tasty and satisfying.

The next morning we ordered a tea prior to breakfast which was delivered promptly. After a short span of time, a bell boy comes in bringing milk in a glass, to which we said that we hadnt ordered it. He goes back, and we get a call from the reception. "You ordered milk", he said. "No, we didnt". "Why (the hell - his tone suggested that) do you ask children to place orders?" "We don't have any children with us", I said. "No, someone with lady-like voice placed the order." I said,"We haven,t", to which he banged down the phone! Wow, that was rude.

The breakfast at the restaurant was all right too, and when it came to the settlement of the bills, the man still seemed pissed about the unknown owner of the milk and wouldnt look up from the newspaper at us. Another much older man seemed to take care of everything was was quite polite. When enquired to the younger man about how he can get confused about an order and how he could yell at us, he said nothind. Bad customer service!

All in all, I would suggest Hotel shreyas only if you dont care much about cleanliness and just want to catch a quick wink. Otherwise, find better options. Good luck!

The hotel websites and pictures seemed quite welcoming. They were also one of the only places within our budget which had a room for the long weekend (August 15-17, 2008). However, when we reached, our rooms were not ready and we had to wait a while. After that, we were shown to a musty smelling room. We were just going to sit on the bed when we saw moss all over. Even the bathroom was badly maintained.

We went to the reception, and after we refused to stay in the mossy room, we were offered another room. This room was a bit better - no moss, but extremely musty as well. It was also larger than the earlier microscopic room. If they had a better room, why didn't they show it to us in the first place?

The good thing about this place was the man at the reception - cooperative and customer-friendly. Food was average - not bad but not good either. We were very disappointed that they don't allow non-veg food in the lunch buffet restaurant. You have to go to the restaurant they have outside, and eat it separately. This was cumbersome, since the plan included lunch, and we were in no mood to eat veg for 3 days.

I gather that during the rains Mahabaleshwar tends to get mossy. However, shouldn't they be airing their rooms and ensuring fresh linen? They can't let it gather moss through the rains!!

All in all, a very average experience.

Shreyas is a Luxurious hotel is very centrally located, near the Post- Office and yet is very exclusive, far from the hustle and bustle of the main town area. The hotel is just a five-minute walk from the main market area and is ideally situated for shopping/ sight seeing/ Horse riding , Restaurants etc.

The hotel is a fine combination of exquisite Cottages, Suite's and rooms facing the landscaped garden and lawns with deluxe and couple rooms, all equipped with CC T.V/ Intercom/running hot and cold water. Some cottages are also have Jacuzzi bathtubs. There is ample space of children's play park and safe parking area with a twenty-four hrs. Security system.

Nice little hotel which we found while we were driving around Mahabaleshwar. Friendly staff who were always ready to help, be it around the pool or for room service. The room had good view of the moutains which actually made us to get up early in the morning to enjoy the early morning view of the mountains. The rooms are neat, airy and the bedding provided was fresh & crisp. The restaurant had little variety as the hotel has limited rooms, however they arrange for decent food from restaurants nearby. Breakfast in the morning was made in the hotel restaurant (Pooha, omlette etc.) was amazing!
Excellent value for money, a place I will recommend people to visit for short family trips.
