“good food, reasonable prices, low key and charming”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

have dinner there, choose the table closest to the water. Ask for a candlelight. Have fish/seafood. (consider asking someone to look after your child so you can stay more than 40 minutes...!)
It's a great place - but it gets dark, and then it's not suitable for 1year-olds. However perfect for a romantic dinner.

“Very good local food”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is very good, solid and honest local food in Jambiani. Tell them about two hours in advance what you would like to eat and they will cook it freshly for you. Very good value.

“Strangest Waiter Ever......”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

The waiter at the Sea Horse seemed to be in a bad mood when 3 friends and I ate. The 4 of us ordered and the waiter left for the kitchen. Soon he returned and said there was no fish which one of our party had ordered so she ordered chicken instead. He left for the kitchen and again came back and said sorry there was no chicken. Then she ordered spaghetti bolognese and at this stage he said that he was sorry but because she had taken so long to order that she could not have a meal and we had to persuade him to cook the spaghetti for her as he argued that she was too slow in ordering.

The food was good for 3 of us (2 calamari and 1 squid which were all lovely) but the spaghetti bolognese was not fully cooked. Then when the bill came the waiter had included the fish and chicken that we did not receive as well as our four meals. When we explained that we did not get them because they were not on the menu he was very confused.

Strange meal indeed...

“The food was not bad but the experience was amazing”
Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

What is special about this spot is the experience itself. It's a tiny restaurant established by a local ,born in the village. His english is great and his hospitality even beter. There is no electricity ,so you eat by lantern light right off the beach. You wait quite a while as your meal is made from scratch(you hear the goings on behind the straw partition) but whats the rush there is nothing else to do but relax. The food was not bad ,with local dishes-but the main thing is the atmosphere and supporting a local business.

“Best food in Jambiani”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We ate here during our vacation in Tanzania and found it to be one of the best meals we've had. Great fish samosa and crusted coconut fish. The chef is very friendly as well.
