“lovely place”

We stayed there in September and enjoyed every minute, wish we could stay longer. The lodges are beautiful ( we stayed in the upper one) isolated and with a gorgeous view, the staff and first of all Maryse, the manager, did everything to make our stay there special, always with a friendly smile that makes you feel at home away from home. The food, splendid - varied, special courses that have only one problem - what to choose????
In all it was a dream place for us!

We stayed here for our honeymoon last week and I literally cannot fault the hotel or the service we received which were perfect in every way, I would go back in a heart beat. The lodges are beautiful (we had one of the two larger ones and worth the extra cost if you can) which had a gorgeous sundeck and veranda where we had breakfast on several days. The location is stunning, the hotel immaculate but above all it's the staff and the food which in my opinion set this place apart.

Every meal was delicious, beautifully presented and a wonderful experience - this is no small feat when you think everything has to either be grown on site or shipped in my boat so hats off to Nicholas the chef for doing such an excellent job.

Every member of staff also did an excellent job - from housekeeping who decorated our room which beautiful flowers every day, to the wonderful local guide Raymond who was so informative and went out of his way to ensure we were given great tours. Cecile the manager was just brilliant and sorted out anything we could possibly want including diving with an excellent local dive company.

We were there for a week but felt like we had been away for ages as we felt so relaxed and well looked after - I can't recommend it highly enough!

This is the prefect place to be after making a tour of Madagascar. We had spent 10 days visiting Parks and walking and this is a great retreat. You will be delivered by speedboat and paddle ashore. Lodges are spacious and very well equipped. All have spectacular views. The main lodge is ideal for relaxing and eating - and you will be spoilt for choice with near Michelin star food on offer and plenty of choice. Chatting to the chef he offered to find Giant mambas for us one evening and they were enormous (and at no extra cost). If you tire of lazing on the white sands there are several short speedboat trips you can make to break up your stay. Marys the manager goes the extra mile to make your holiday.

Room Tip: All seem good but close to the restaurant seem best - and its is also easier to get morning coffee o...

Gorgeous, idyllic, beautiful, relaxed, friendly, personal, stylish - it's really difficult to sum up Tsara Komba as to me it was all of these words. Then I thought that surely instead of summing it up in a word (or a few) the best review is that my husband and I had 6 blissful nights there and would definitely return in a heartbeat.

It was an arduous journey for us getting there as we'd flown (via tana) from Tuleaur and Air Madagascar had changed the time of our flight meaning we pretty much travelled for 12 hours with little sleep. But, as we approached the resort in the speed boat, seeing Tsara Komba come into sight certainly put a smile on our faces and the memory of previous 12 hours disappeared as the staff at the lodge took us under their caring wing.

We were in lodge 8 which is at the top of the resort with stunning views over the bay to die for. All the lodges are hidden amongst the tropical foliage and so it's all very private and peaceful. Our lodge was huge and beautifully decorated (everything at Tsara Komba is stylish with quirky touches) with local materials and comes with all your creature comforts: huge beds draped in muslin that billows in the sea breeze; gorgeous toiletries made from local ingredients; lovely waffle towels and robes. Every day the rooms are spotlessly cleaned and lemongrass oils are left to burn; the lodges are open to the elements with louver shutters and so instead of a/c you get the natural breeze and you do also get geckos and insects but mosquito coils are lit every night and you have the nets over the beds.

I read comments on Tripadvisor about you silence being disturbed by locals playing football on the beach. Yes, this does happen but, it's for about an hour and there are so many other places to sunbathe that it's hardly an inconvenience and actually quite entertaining - at least you know you're in Madagascar unlike some ubiquitous luxury resort that could be anywhere in the world.

The whole place is expertly run by Maryse who was just lovely and has a great attention to detail - in fact one of the best things about Tsara Komba are the staff who were a delight. My husband was ill during our stay (something picked up on the road trip NOT at Tsara Komba) and Maryse looked after him so well and really couldn't have done more providing all sorts of medicines, making salt/sugar water solutions for his dehydration and rearranging trips - she was just wonderful.

The food at the lodge was terrific from fresh fruits at breakfast to delicious fish and divine desserts. At lunch you have a choice of 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts - this was too much for us and so Chef was always obliging in making simple salads (and blander food for my husband to get him over his sickness). In the evening you get the same choice but with an additional starter, main and dessert - the whole menu then changes daily. You can certainly dine like a king (or queen) if you want to and it's all top notch food that could grace any 5 star resort.

There are lots of options if you want to get out an about: sunset cruise; village tour; amazing snorkelling; fishing; trekking through the island. The nearby village sells very well priced fresh vanilla so you can stock up there, although the lady doing the selling is a hard business woman!.

Tsara Komba is definitely intimate and without pretension - a place to relax, indulge and recharge safe in the knowledge that you will be expertly looked after.

We spent the last three nights of our holiday in Madagascar here, and it was the perfect end to a fantastic trip.

The setting of the hotel is beautiful, looking out onto a wide beach, perfect for swimming or just relaxing in the warm water. Our cabin was delightful - very spacious, with a huge balcony overlooking the beach - on which we were brought breakfast on some days. The gardens surrounding the cabins are also beautiful, and provide plenty of privacy.

All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and made our stay memorable. Food was absolutely first class, with different daily choice. The highlight was a private dinner on the deck by the beach, lit by lamplight and followed by drinks under the stars.

Although we mostly wanted to relax, there was also plenty to do. We canoed a couple of bays along to snorkel over a small coral reef, tried a trip in a small pirogue, and went for a hugely informative trek through the forest above the resort with guide Raymond.

Top class hotel all round.

This is quite simply the finest place I've had the pleasure of staying in. Everything was spot on for a wonderfully relaxing stay. The staff worked really hard to make sure you were looked after, all with a genuine smile. The food was as good a quality as you'd find in a top European restaurant. I loved the Rum cocktails on offer. The garden and views were beautiful and the beach an absolute joy to spend time on. Raymond the head guide was a mine of information and could organise all kinds of activities (don't miss snokelling on Nosy Tanykelly or the tough but rewarding walk across the island).
The rooms were wonderful...I could go on and on!
I also have to say that it was indeed good value in the sense that you do get what you pay for and if that's not enough it's ethically and environmentally sound aswell.
ABSOLUTELY THOROUGHLY RECOMENDED!!
