I decided to try Oriental Spirit with a friend last night after being informed there would be a 30 minute wait for a table (for 2) at Jinda Thai.
The restaurant was moderately busy and seemed to have a lively vibe. The place has a predominatly black and orange colour scheme.
We ordered the Som Tum, beef stir-fry with chilli and basil and crab curry powder mains.
I enjoyed the dishes but did not think their quality and presentation is on par with Jinda Thai. However what stood out for me was the large servings for every dish. In fact I think a single serve of Som Tum would be equivalent to the size of 2 servings at Jinda Thai.
My friend works as a concreter and hence always has a huge appetite after work. If we were at any other Thai restaurant we would have needed to order another dish or 2 for both of us.
We found the prices to be on par with other Thai restaurants on Victoria St but the portions size are very generous. All in all we both enjoyed our meal and did notice that the service was prompt and effecient.
