We spent a night at Richmond Hill when we had a conference in Abbotsford. It was a good price and included parking and a continental buffet breakfast. The rooms were clean and everyone was friendly. The rooms are quite small but we were not spending much time in our room. The bathroom was also quite small. It certainly is in a great location to restaurants and public transport. It is good to find a hotel that has parking on site and includes breakfast.

Needing two nights accommodation in the inner eastern suburbs, we settled on Richmond Hill Hotel. We had several functions to attend in Richmond and the city, and the location was perfect. Our room was small with an ensuite, but had everything we needed. Perfectly clean, great bed, and we loved the large breakfast room and lounge. This place has character in spades, which you can't often say about other places. Will certainly stay again, and unreservedly recommend.

I had stayed at this hotel with my parents for almost 3 weeks last winter in Melbourne. Loved the location, with close proximity to trams and the tube. Richmond is barely 2 kms from the city centre, and this property, which is opposite the magnificent St Ignatius church in Richmond, is just perfect for a comfortable stay.

We were here in June / July when it's quite cold in Melbourne, but the room was cozy, the bathroom was clean and their buffet breakfast was quite something.

My parents are senior citizens, and the hotel staff was very respectful, polite and ready to serve and help. Even for the various sight seeing tours, we had the coach coming right upto the door to pick us up and drop us back, which was so very convenient. And all this was at no extra cost, since the hotel is located very centrally and is on the list of most tour operators who provide pick up and drop for their sight seeing itineraries.

The hotel is a heritage property, and I love its décor. The fireplace was very comforting.

Room Tip: The front facing rooms on the first floor overlooking the fountain in the garden

We stayed at Richmond Hill June 2014 and enjoyed our time.I suffer from asthma and was concerned about staying away. However I was not disappointed the hole Hotel was warm and there was not a speck of dust. The rooms had very comfortable beds and a electric oil heater in every room.We had a private bathroom and although it was small it had a great shower and a ceiling fan and the room was very clean. The continental breakfast was very good and healthy with a good choice. We had a drink at the bar and there is a sitting room to enjoy with a lovely welcoming fire in the sometimes cold Melbourne weather. The hotel is close to public transport shopping and restaurants. The staff are so friendly and helpful, we compared prices and found The Richmond Hill Hotel less expensive with great homely atmosphere housed in a wonderful old building. We will stay again

I stayed here for one night for work. It's a nice enough hotel, with a guest-house feel to it.

The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom in my room smelt quite bad though, and the wifi isn't free, which I found quite frustrating as it was a lot of money for a basic hotel.

I paid $140 and this would be great value for money if there were 3 people staying in the room, but not for solo travellers. Next time I will stay a little further away from the office and pay the same rate for a 4/5 star hotel instead.

Breakfast is basic but nice and has everything you need. The atmosphere in the group areas is really nice. And the lady on reception as I checked out was extremely helpful and friendly, so an A+ for service!

I had an unfortunate situation happen to me and I had to stay in Melbourne for an unspecified time. I accidentally found this Hotel and when I explained I didn't have a set check-out date, they were more than accommodating. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. It may have needed a little updating here and there, but overall, everything was great. Transport was just close, shops nearby and quite close to the hospital if you don't mind a short walk. The staff were wonderful, the building warm and inviting on a cold night with fires burning in a parlour and meals area. I would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are very quiet.
