I went to Union Dining with three friends.
This was a last minute get together and we were pleased they accepted our reservation the night before.
Parking in the area can be a problem, due to clearway till 6:30PM and also there are many restaurants in the vicinity of Union Dining.
We all had main course of fish which were rainbow trout and hapuka. We also had 2 side serves one of green beans and quinoa and one of potatoes cooked in duck fat.
We had 3 desserts which were dark chocolate tart and trifle, plus a plate of cheese.
Mains were around $36 and desserts $16 each. Side dishes were around $9.
There’s a comprehensive wine list and they are happy to advise you.
The service is very efficient and friendly.
I found the restaurant a bit noisy and would prefer a table against the wall next time. It’s also a bit pricey for casual dining, but the overall experience was very positive and I will certainly return.

This place really tries hard and delivers. My wife and I go there and take our sleeping baby which they accommodate every time. Lovely food, great sommelier.
Tip: let them choose the wine with your dinner. It is great.

This is a 'throwing caution to the winds' place. Great presentation, clever taste / texture / combinations, but . .. .. .rich! My advice is a couple of entrees and a salad. Great atmosphere and lovely, responsive staff. Good wine list. Quality 'by the glass' list. Yay!

Went with family for lunch. Every thing about the place was very nice but nothing to say 'we have to come back". Would go back for a change but with so many good places in Melbourne it's easy to keep trying some where new unless you can just walk down the road to the place. Definitely worth a try as i am sure you will not be disappointed but probably not blown away.

We have been to three of the Sunday Food and Wine lunches. Brilliant food and wines to match.
The last we attended featured produce from the Yarra Valley and wines from Gembrook Hill Vineyard. 6 course degustation menu with matched wines. Buxton smoked trout, quail rillettes, rabbit and also baby heirloom produce from Yarra Valley Gourmet Greenhouse (as written up in Epicure The Age). French breakfast radishes, pencil leeks, tomatoes in various extremely tasty forms and colours all complemented the dishes. Dessert was Silvan berries and tiny Alpine Strawberries with roasted peaches on shortbread. Care is taken with every dish here and service is always attentive. Keep an eye on their website for the next "specials" but go there anyway for the great experience.
