“Elegant, comfortable, and great value for money.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2009

We stayed at Andre's Mews Serviced Apartments to celebrate my 50th birthday. My husband and I stayed in the Ellen suite for 5 nights and another couple traveling with us for 3 nights in the Claudine. I'll start with the suites: both were beautifully decorated and looked just like the photos on the website only better. The Ellen could accommodate two couples, but we chose to have two suites instead of sharing. The rooms are really beautiful, done up in black, white, silver and mirrors. The living area has two sofas, the tv and a decorative fireplace. There is also a small outdoor sitting area assessable from the living room, the only drawback is you can hear, but not really see the traffic on Church St. In the living room you don't hear any traffic at all. The dining area has room for four and a lovely desk for the laptop and working. The kitchen has a counter separating it from the dining area. The smaller of the two bedrooms is down a hallway with the power room and main bathroom. The master bedroom is at the end of the suite with an entrance onto the courtyard. The beds and pillows are very comfortable with good lighting bedside. The bathroom a good size with a large tub and a shower with fantastic pressure. Loads of large fluffy towels were provided as well as hairdryer, toiletries, and a magnifying hand mirror. There is a separate powder room with a washer/dryer combo. In addition there was an iron, board, and drying rack. In both bedrooms there was plenty of closet/storage space. We didn't cook, but in the kitchen was a microwave, stove top, dishwasher and two small fridges. Plenty of glassware and plates were also on hand. They only thing I found missing was sharp knives. We were provided with eggs, bread, butter, milk, cereal, jam, coffee and tea for breakfast.
The Claudine has one bedroom, shower and separate living space with a small kitchenette, no dishwasher. Two comfy sofas, writing desk and tv in the living area. This suite is done up in mauve and cream colors.
The bedroom is a nice size with a closet and a nice shower off the bedroom.
The Claudine is up some steps and has a small balcony and also access the lovely garden courtyard area. Parking was also provided for us.
Yvonne the owner was fantastic and even took a phone call from a friend of mine ringing to wish happy birthday at the horrible hour of 3:00 AM. and taking the time to redirect her with my number.
Internet and local phone calls are provided for free.
It is a very short walk to Bridge Road for shopping and the tram. The Tram ride took about 20 minutes max and you could pre buy a ticket at the 711 across the street. There was also a very nice chocolate shop next door.
We usually stay in the CBD, but really enjoyed staying in the Richmond area. There is so much to do and so many great places to eat.
The apartments/suites are good value for money in my opinion. There is not really daily service at this time, but if you require it, Yvonne would try her best to provide.
The only thing I believe you may miss that a larger hotel would provide is room service and an on-site restaurant. That would be solved with ringing takeaway/delivery. But, what you do get is a beautiful place to stay that is much nicer than just about any hotel room I have stayed in and the ability to together your own little picnics, say from the grocer on Bridge Road or perhaps David Jones Deli. I almost hate to give such a glowing review in case we can't get a room next visit.

Dear avb13,

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to respond; however, I do remember you very well. Thank you so much for your compliments, the staff and I do our very best to ensure that all our guests enjoy a comfortable and memorable stay.

We have made some refurbishments now to the Ellen apartment, the decoration is a little different, with the addition of two magnificent chandeliers in the living and dining rooms. But more importantly, the Ellen apartment now has two beautifully appointed bathrooms.

As for the Claudine, it now boasts a brand new dishwasher.

Thank you again for joining us at Andre's Mews, and we look forward to seeing you again.
