We stayed as a couple for 2 nights....
Check in customer service was excellent and we were even walked to our room which already had the heaters in anticipation of our arrival.
Cottage style decor with lots of timber and floral print patterns...all was quite dated however in excellent condition and very clean....heating in room was excellent and we only noticed on second night bed even had electric blanket which we hadn't utilised.
Room and ensuite had all amenities however room did not have a tv (none of the rooms here have tv apparently) it would have been nice to have a tv and then choose if to use it or not....
Shower in room was hot and with good supply of water...
We ate in the restaurant on both the Friday and Saturday nights
Both nights the food was top class
First night I had the spatzle and partner had the spatchcock both were delicious and came with fresh bread and we ordered. Some rosemary salted chips as a siedand we finished wit a selection of beautiful cheeses
On the second night I had barramundi and partner had steak and both were the best we have ever had....better than the Atlantic at crown....divine and cooked to perfection...as aside we had the beans and finished with a creme caramel...
On both. On both Mornings we stayed we had athe delicious and very generous cooked breakfast and there was a selection of cereals and Bircher muesli and fruit salad available also
Waiter Kevin & Antonio were both attentive and gave excellent service
Overall the food made our stay and was all beautiful and top quality
Service was excellent and was friendly and attentive
Accommodation was a tad tired although served its purpose and was clean to a fault

Great location with close access to loads of wineries and other attractions such as the grampiens...

Overall I would recommend as a great getaway stay while not luxurious as the five stars the advertising states the food and service more than makes up for the dated accommodation...

Lovely view, setting and the meals and wines were fabulous. Kevin is a gem and is a fantastic asset to the business. He made a lasting impression on us and is worth his weight in gold. Service like that is hard to find.

Overall an average stay, but seeing we purchased a special 2 night package for only $250 I suppose the value was OK. Based on rack rates however this property is over priced.
The customer service on check-in was brilliant and we could not have hoped for more. From there however, things went downhill.
The walls were so thin it did actually feel like you were sharing your room with other people. We could actually hear the male in the room net to us every time he passed wind! What we could not understand is on the second night there were only two rooms booked yet it was us and our friendly neighbours. While they were nice we would have preferred the privacy rather than hear every word they said.
The restaurant meal was very disappointing and we sent one emal back to the kitchen and had cheese instead.
While Craig was a nice man and very knowledgable at Cellar Door I could not believe he would not let me try the wine I was interested in trying. He insisted I try the wine that he was discussing with another group. I refused and left rather than taste anything, therefore I cannot comment on the wine quality.
Other than that the views and surroundings are beautiful and we enjoyed breakfast each day. Unfortunately we would not consider returning.

We stayed here more than 17 years ago. NOTHING appears to have changed! I agree with some of the other reviewers that the 'resort' is looking somewhat tired HOWEVER if you are seeking a base from which to explore this great wine region, then you probably won't be wanting for much more.

We purchased an online voucher which was commensurate with what we received. I think we would have been disappointed if we had paid the full rate.

Another reviewer commented on the beds. We like a firm bed and slept wonderfully.

With 'Resort' in the name of a property you would probably expect more public spaces for relaxation, reflection etc... and your accommodation conducive to kicking back and relaxing in. Perhaps the Grange or the Loft offers this, but the smaller cottages don't. Yeah there is a tennis court; a swimming pool with a few sun lounges, another outdoor seating area from the bar (all great - weather permitting) and a hot tub. You can also go for long bush walks if that's your thing.

We found the staff very friendly. Some even 'cocky'. But we didn't let that detract from our stay.

Food was good (however overpriced) but despite informing them of special dietary requirements and depending on who is in the kitchen on the night, there may be lack of creativity if a dish needs to be modified.

After dinner make sure on your way back to your accommodation you climb up the hill and take a look at the sky. It's been a very long time since we have seen the milky way so clear! Just disappointed we didn't see a shooting star as well.

Breakfast is served between 8.30 - 9.30am. No lingering over newspapers here. Tables are promptly cleared and readied for lunchtime sitting.

We also found the 1 hour wine tasting lecture a bit over the top. For those who want to romanticise about the tasting of wine - you will love Craig's show. For those who come in during the tasting lecture, you will be peeved that you will only be able to try what is being offered from the time of your arrival. But don't be put off. The wines here are VERY good.

Room Tip: Stay in a room with vineyard views.

We were looking so forward to our weekend away. It was our first nights ever away from our 4 & 6 year olds and we were looking forward to 2 nights of rest and relaxation. The staff on check in were lovely and very helpful and our room though dated was pleasant with amazing views over the grape vines. From then on it was very disappointing. We went and had dinner in the restaurant the first night. We ordered a bottle of wine which they poured but didn't get us to try first. After our first sip we knew it wasn't the one we had ordered. We spoke to the waiter about it and he said "sorry we didn't have any of the one you ordered left and this wine is the most similar". Really would have thought we would have been told that prior to them pouring. The meals were very disappointing and tastless. One of the drawcards for us to this property was the big hot tub over looking the winery. When we went down to get in, it smelt like mouldy wet clothes and was slimmy. Oh well, we thought we would just head to our room and get a good nights sleep and we could go somewhere else for dinner the next night. Our bed was so hard and uncomfortable it felt like we were sleeping on the floor. We finally got to sleep and around midnight we were woken by a group of 4 adults and 4 children who had been put in the room right next to us. With only a thin wall as a divider it was like they were in the same room as us. They were talking loudly and the children were running around on the timber floors screaming. After about an hour we banged on the wall and asked them to be quite but by this stage we were wide awake. We spoke to the lady on the desk in the morning about it and she said they were guests of the owner and were leaving that day. Our question was when the property was only half full why would they put such a large group next to a couple staying on there own. We contemplated leaving that day as we were not sure we could face the beds for another night but we had paid for two nights and didn't want to waste the money. After having another terrible night on the hard mattress and both having sore backs in the morning we should have just left the day before. We would have had a better night sleep and been more rested at home with our children waking us up. We did do the winery tour with Luigi which was amazing and we would definately go and do that again. His knowledge and passion for wine is truely remarkable. This property could be so beautiful but it is in desperate need of an update and renovation

We had a beautiful day to remember with Luigi, Athelie & Family in Warrenmang Vineyard last week, what a way to start 2013! We were treated to a beautiful array of wonderfully fresh produce and perfectly cooked raviolo, a lunch to savour and write home about!! Luigi's personal wine tour was a highlight, a man who clearly has so much passion (along with Athelie) which shows through in his lifetime of work and commitment. The staff are truly the best, they could not do enough for all of our guests and always a smile to greet us in the blistering heat!! Thank you again, we will be visiting soon and spreading the word that this famiy run winery is not to be missed. Thank you again for hosting the day which our overseas guests and we, will hold close to our hearts.

This type of character simply can't be advertised. Every grape is hand picked, every step of the process is managed with care. Luigi's passion for wine is infectious. It showed through every staff members' warm hospitality.
