This winery is obviously not on the usual bus tours so it's so much quieter. The food was lovely, perfectly cooked. We arrived late in the afternoon and nothing was a problem - 'yes the chef is happy to cook anything on the menu'. What a pleasant change! Beautiful spot and will definitely return again.

I can honestly say that while were visiting the Yarra Glen end of the wineries we had never spotted this little gem before. It's not on the wine tours so if you're not travelling by yourself you probably wouldn't see it, but a really nice selection of wines and the winemaker is a lovely man who is more than happy to chat

It is our usual practice on Melbourne Cup Day to visit a Restaurant & Winery for lunch and on this occasion chose Shantell at Dixons Creek. Because of earlier committments we were unable to arrive before 2pm - "no problem" said the receptionist, "we will expect you around 2pm".
The view from the restaurant is picture perfect, overlooking the vineyards and I could see Mount St Leonard near Toolangi in the distance.
We chose seafood accompanied by a bottle of Shantell's 2011 Semillon - I must say the combination was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch - just in time to watch the cup.
Only when about to leave did we learn that the owners, Shan and Turid Shanmugam, are highly qualified, Shan as a Surgeon and qualified winemaker and Turid a Physicist.
Evening discussions must be interesting.

Took our family here for celebratory lunch for our daughter's engagement. Ten of us.
The view is pleasant and the wines were lovely. But the food was very disappointing in quantity and quality but particularly in the very small servings. mains like entree size.
So much good food in the Yarra Valley, they need to lift their game.

A very unique dining experience indeed. Very intimate, classy cellar door and a cut above the average. Very stylish wine indeed and a lunch which was well proportioned, tasty and great with the wine. The aboriginal art provided a stunning backdrop to the afternoon. Would happily return.
