Our 10th anniversary was celebrated by spending 2 nights at The Burrow at Wombat Bend.
A wonderful experience and getaway with the cottage being a warm relaxing place to stay in the middle of winter.
The food provisions were delicious and plentiful and we dined in on the first night (warming soup, fresh crusty bread and tasty gnocchi).
A very comfortable bed with a lovely view of the peaceful surrounds.
A great location close to wineries and in the heart of the Yarra Valley but away from the hustle and bustle.
Highly recommended. Thanks Sue and Bill!
This was our second stay at the Burrow- in a different season this time. The hosts Sue and Bill greeted us like old friends and we had a lovely restful two days in this charming cottage. We enjoyed sitting quietly taking in the peaceful surrounds- the trees and billabong giving a sense of being far away from the hustle and bustle, sipping on one of the wonderful wines of the region we had purchased that day. No need for television or even internet for that matter. We simply love the Burrow and its hosts (and of course their gorgeous canine children) and will most definitely be back.
We had a wonderful time at the Burrow, our little puppy has had so much fun playing with cottage owner Bill and Sue's dogs. The cottage has a fantastic lake view, and we enjoyed sitting out on the porch, watching ducks swim around and birds chipping over the trees, really peaceful and calming.
It is also an easy access to go the Lake Mountain Ski place from here, which is a great winter getaway for families.
The Burrow at Wombat Bend is unique. Stunning location for a quite, peaceful break away from everything. You could not wish for better hosts than Sue and Bill who could not have done more to make our stay so enjoyable. It was wonderful to have our dog with us and for him to have such a huge area to run and explore.
This was my third stay at The Burrow and it will not be my last. Each time I have come with writing tasks to complete - book chapters to finish, articles to revise, papers to begin - and each time I have exceeded what I thought possible. The energy of Wombat Bend - peaceful, grounded, focused, welcoming - ensures that the space really becomes the perfect writer's retreat. I find myself - full of good food, good tea and good sleep - able to focus in a way that is just not possible in other, more distracting, venues. Sue and Bill were, as always, incredible. I really appreciate how naturally hospitable and real you both are. Many thanks!
Thank you for makinging the stay so comfortable and relaxing, I wish I'd had more time to explore the property which is set amoungst old Iron Bark trees with a lake for dreaming and totaly unwinding. Authentic Australian hospitality at its best.
Our stay at the Burrow was the highlight of our trip to Australia. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough. Sue and Bill are wonderful hosts and did everything possible to make our stay a truly memorable experience. What they have done to their land is inspirational and helps remind us of nature’s importance and vulnerability. The Burrow is private and well designed. It felt like your own home and would be suited for all, whether you’re looking for peace & quiet, romance or adventure.
