The Burrow at Wombat Bend is unique. Stunning location for a quite, peaceful break away from everything. You could not wish for better hosts than Sue and Bill who could not have done more to make our stay so enjoyable. It was wonderful to have our dog with us and for him to have such a huge area to run and explore.
This was my third stay at The Burrow and it will not be my last. Each time I have come with writing tasks to complete - book chapters to finish, articles to revise, papers to begin - and each time I have exceeded what I thought possible. The energy of Wombat Bend - peaceful, grounded, focused, welcoming - ensures that the space really becomes the perfect writer's retreat. I find myself - full of good food, good tea and good sleep - able to focus in a way that is just not possible in other, more distracting, venues. Sue and Bill were, as always, incredible. I really appreciate how naturally hospitable and real you both are. Many thanks!
Thank you for makinging the stay so comfortable and relaxing, I wish I'd had more time to explore the property which is set amoungst old Iron Bark trees with a lake for dreaming and totaly unwinding. Authentic Australian hospitality at its best.
Our stay at the Burrow was the highlight of our trip to Australia. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough. Sue and Bill are wonderful hosts and did everything possible to make our stay a truly memorable experience. What they have done to their land is inspirational and helps remind us of nature’s importance and vulnerability. The Burrow is private and well designed. It felt like your own home and would be suited for all, whether you’re looking for peace & quiet, romance or adventure.
(Couple from the UK and Singapore, aged 25 - 30, stayed for 1 night)
Bruce and I stayed at The Burrow in April this year for 1 night (though we wished we had an extra night stay). I would just love to say that from the moment we entered the premises, we could already foresee a wonderful experience ahead! Sue and Bill were the most welcoming human beings since we stepped out of the car! Sue showed us the beautiful room and there were food and drinks there enough to feed us for weeks! HAHA!
The atmosphere around was such a wonderful experience with loads of different species of birds everywhere and a beautiful man made Burrow!!! HOW INCREDIBLE!!??! We also managed to see a Possum!!!!
I would definitely recommend this lovely place if you're up in the Yarra Valley because it is definitely worth all your time and money to see it!!!
THANKS SUE AND BILL - WE WILL BE BACK!
Sue and Bill were the perfect hosts. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by them and their lovely dogs and looked after. The food provided was well above expectations. Lovely accomodations in a tranquil setting. Our two dogs were welcomed to stay in the Burrow, which made the stay special, Great location! Great People! Fantastic time! Highly recommended. Will definitely stay again!!
Quiet cottage in a beautiful rural setting, close to wineries. We were well looked after by the host with plenty of yummy food. She even arranged our tours: a fantastic day at the wineries and a pet the wombat session. Highlight was a visit from a wildlife carer who came to the cottage to show us the local wildlife up close and personal. We will often look back at this special little holiday we had at The Burrow.
