Week after Christmas we stayed here on a powered site and had the best tuime - a beautiful beach with great facilities compeltely only for those who stay on merry beach it was well worth the stay and the local area bakery, seafood shop and fruit and veg that came aroudn made it so conveinent and not too over priced. Kids everywhere had a ball and would defientely go here again.

When you see some of the North Coast Camping parks in NSW, Merry Beach is D grade in comparison...

Nothing has really been upgraded in years, there is no facilities for kids - not one swing, or slippery dip, only a pool, which by early afternoons on a hot day, is cloudy and dirty looking.

We have stayed in a cabin for holidays at Xmas over several years, and the TV was about 22", and was nearly 10yrs old. You dont watch TV during the day, but at night its nice to settle in and watch a movie. TV reception is crap, goes in and out depending on the weather. Surely they can have them upgraded to 32-40" by now as they are cheap to do so...

Rooms in the cabins are very small, couldn't swing a cat in them...

The BBQ's on the balcony have no temp control, just full on for 14 mins, then they turn off. You re-start the heat, finish your cooking, and they stay on until 14 mins is up, smoking the oil leftover away as you try to eat, as they cant be turned off manually....Sounds like a good whinge, but when you are paying for it, it should be half decent.
Seems like they have have been very reluctant to keep up with the times, no money seems to have been spent on facilities, however they are happy to cram people in like sardines over School Holidays.
A few points:
Nice Beach - YEP!
Internet? - Nope
Communal BBQ areas with fridges? - Nope
Swings, play area etc? - Nope
Kids Club? - Nope
Cafe? - Nope (1km walk down the road)
Jumping Pillows? - Nope
Communal Hall
Staff - All very nice....

Plenty of nice places near there, maybe Racecourse Beaches latest upgrade will make them invest some more money into the park to keep up?!

Time to head North of Sydney for some quality parks from now!

We stayed in the Presidential Suite next to reception over a quiet weekend in October (3 adults 1 14 month old). The park is situated right on the beach and is only a five minute walk from a small shop and restaurant. The service was fine and check in out was simple. The Presidential Suite is a two-storey cabin, kitchen downstairs, lounge room upstairs, with a bedroom and balcony on each floor. We had a 12 month old and brought our own cot which would only fit in the bedroom upstairs. This was fine but it meant that we had to sit in the kitchen/dining room downstairs instead of the comfy lounge upstairs once the bubs had gone to bed at night. There is a BBQ on the ground floor balcony which was fantastic. When we stayed the park was pretty quiet which was very nice, Kangaroos roaming the park, a few kids riding bikes and campers relaxing over a drink - a great laid back experience. We used the 'Stay and Pay' package voucher (Stay 3 nights, pay for 2 nights) which is available on their website which is pretty good value. We didn't use the pool or playground as we spent all our time playing on the beach! Overall a very pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Can't beat the Pres Suite!

It was unbelievable weather and I was really excited to spend the week relaxing with friends and family. The first let down came as soon as we arrived and were treated appallingly by the staff on reception. They were extremely rude and unhelpful. We got our site and were let down once again at the tiny overpriced space that was allocated to us and the lack of amenities. The closest amenities block was a good 200 meter walk away was old and run down and smelt like sewage, we had to pay to have a hot shower that was nothing but a trickle leaking out of the 20 year old rusty shower head. There are no washing up facilities, picnic tables chairs, barbeques, or a decent laundry that won’t stuff your clothes. The pool looks amazing from outside the gate but is filthy and freezing. I went to speak to management and was yet again treated poorly, all I expected was a guarantee that they will try harder to make it a nicer stay for everyone but instead I got told simply to deal with it…

This is a great place to bring the family or visit as a couple. We have stayed three times in three years with our children and friends, twice in an Executive Suite, and once in a Presidential Suite. These are both pleasant, well-appointed cabins. The latter is two-storey, and I would recommend the one closest to the entrance as it's a little more secluded and has great views to the beach and the national park. The whole top floor of the Presidential Suite is given over to a huge main bedroom and lounge area with adjoining balcony looking out to sea. Children are in a separate bedroom downstairs, although it's tricky fitting 3 into this (one might have to camp out with parents upstairs). The Executive cabin is on one level, and easily accommodates 3 kids in the one (smallish) room. The swimming pool is large but doesn't seem to be heated, making it a bit chilly outside of the warmer months. One of the lovely things about this caravan resort is its relative seclusion. As the end of Kioloa, it sits right next to the national park with several good walks, and lots of wildlife (including resident kangaroos and possums who roam the caravan park, much to the delight of kids - bring torches for a night walk!). The beach is pleasant, although the surf can be a bit rough for children and less able swimmers. There is a creek running down through the beach to the sea, presenting lots of fun for kids who want to built dams, etc. A great beach for kids to play, with rock pools at one end, and national park at the other. The local shop is a few minutes walk away, and there appears to be a good little restaurant attached to it (we haven't tried it, but a friend has, with lots of positive feedback). In summary, this is a lovely laid-back place to pitch a tent, pull up in a caravan, or rent a very nice, well-appointed cabin (be aware, there are a number of options with cabins, some more basic than others. I'd recommend Executive and Presidential ones).

Room Tip: Presidential Suite close to entrance a little more secluded. Cabins closer to the pool may be noisier.
