Maremonti bed and breakfast was just what we needed after a long bus ride from Coca. The hotel is set on a hill about a 15-minute walk from the beach (good exercise on the way back up.) Puerto Lopez itself can be dusty or muddy, depending on the weather, and we did not mind the short walk from the hotel. Our accommodation included a large sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, and large balcony for $20 per person per night, including breakfast and taxes. The breakfast is wonderful, with a large bowl of fresh fruit, fresh bread baked by the Italian husband, eggs, meat if you want, and coffee. They will also cook you dinner if you order from a menu by 4 p.m., and the risotto and pasta we tried were very good. Marianella speaks good English and is extremely helpful in planning activities; she can provide contact information for bird guides and boats to Isla de la Plata. She will also do laundry for a small fee, although air drying in this climate takes a while. We enjoyed getting to know the family and would recommend a stay to anyone.
