Description: The South Okanagan has gained a well deserved reputation as a desirable destination for tourists seeking an agricultural and culinary experience. The Sonora Room at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery features prominently in this regard with its epicurean excellence, superb service, relaxed style and scenic splendour. The restaurant overlooks 146 acres of picturesque vineyard from the patio or inside the warm and inviting dining room. The philosophy of the talented culinary team is to embrace the opportunity to showcase many of the South Okanagan’s local producers. Dishes are created that utilize an array of local organic produce, seasonal fruits and artisan cheeses, and pair perfectly with Burrowing Owl's award winning wines. The exclusive wine list includes a selection of Burrowing Owl's current vintages, and library wines that are no longer publicly available for sale. Creative cuisine, impeccable service and a beautiful venue highlight the great agricultural diversity of the region.

“The perfect lunch...”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

We had an opportunity to visit this restaurant while traveling through the Okanagan. I had a simple cheese plate for lunch and it was a most perfect blend of taste, portion and beauty. The presentation was gorgeous and the cheese offered were unique and tasty. The server recommended a wine pairing and it couldn't have been better. Nicely done!

“Excellent from start to finish!”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

The valley is very green and lush this year and the panoramic view offered from the patio of this wonderful restaurant is nothing short of breath taking. What a great location, I highly recommend reserving a table on the patio.

Right from being greeted by the hostess to enjoying our after desert coffee the dinning experience was fantastic.

Starting with the food, everything we tried on the menu was excellent. The soup is fresh and made with local ingredients, what a great way to liven up your palate. We wouldn't say that one entree' was better than the rest since we were not able to taste them all. But what we did, was most enjoyable. I might add that the braised short ribs were mouth watering and near perfection. The deserts were of equally high calibre.

A stand out has to be their wine list. If not all most of the wines and vintages produced at the Burrowing Owl Winery are available for guests dining in the Sonora Room, what a treat.

Our palates were completely satisfied as we finished the experience with a couple of very well prepared cappuccinos.

The service was just right, not too much attention, and our server was very knowledgeable of all items on the menu and the ingredients used. Definitely a 5 star experience!

“5 star food and service!”
Reviewed July 4, 2012 via mobile

I had not been here in a couple years and have to say they have really taken this fantastic place up to a new level.

Our waiter was excellent and helped us pair wines with all courses.

The flavor in the vegetables, meats and fish (we all shared bites) were all world class and cooked perfectly. Oh, and the Earl grey creme brûlée was spectacular!

Service, food, wine, setting, all wonderful! Try the Meritage and the Chardonay, our 2 favorites of the Burrowing owl vineyard.

“Go for the wine and the view”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

We ate at Burrowing Owl about a year ago. The wines are outstanding; the food was less impressive. It's a stunning winery, though, and they have a Burrowing Owl repopulation program that is worthy of mention. Visit Burrowing Owl, by all means, to enjoy the wines. And give the food a try - maybe it will be better than our experience.
