I decided to spend my birthday here again a year later. This time we stayed at room 10, the corner room which I think will be my preferred room for next time. Everything was perfect except maybe I would like it that when we come to check-in there is someone actually at the desk to welcome you. Whenever we passed by the desk there was almost always no one there. You would have to call out to whomever was on shift as they were mostly in the back office. I found this a little strange. One can see the guest drive up and come in and that extra gesture of seeing a face to welcome you would be nice.
Better pillows would be a suggestion as well. The ones we had were "bumpy". This time of year brought fruit flies and mosquitoes. Maybe having citronella candle or spray would be nice an extra touch.

Our first trip to the Osoyoos/Oliver area, so we found the architectural mix a bit confounding at first, including the faux-California design of the building and restaurant. However rooms were enormous and well appointed with gorgeous views of the pool and vineyards. Every convenience. A warm welcome from staff, great small town hospitality. The breakfast that was included was really delicious; unfortunately it wasn't quite warm enough to eat on the patio, but that would have been delightful. We were lucky enough to be there for the "Half-Corked Marathon" and encountered very amusing costumed merry "runners" imbibing from vineyard to vineyard. Lovely getaway; very romantic deluxe retreat.

Room Tip: All the 10 rooms seem great; all have private balconies overlooking vineyards and pool.

The staff was unwelcoming from the second we walked into the door. We were a group of 12 who DID call ahead and the manager argued that we did not call to 'warn' her of our arrival to the tasting room. She yelled for the mans attention at the tasting counter and while pointing to us said in an unpleasant and sarcastic tone, 'welcome to your Saturday!!' I would not go back here or even think of vacationing here. What a sour lady.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in room 9 (upper level). The room was large, clean, comfortable and well appointed ( even patio-safe dishes and wine glasses in addition to regular red and white wine glasses). Breakfasts were great with granola, muesli, fruit, nuts, yoghurt, fresh pastries, breads and choice of 3 hot offerings (quiches, eggs, frittatas, etc). Our dinners in the restaurant were delicious, as were the suggested wine pairings. Staff offered to package up our desserts to take back to our room. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Early morning walk (hike) through the vinyards was very enjoyable and invigorating. Weather was cool and rainy so we didn't use the pool. My only quibble, no exercise room. Close to many other wineries. Halfway between Oliver and Osoyoos.

Stayed here 3 days and hiked and toured the Okanagan Valley. This is a great location to reach many of the fine wineries easliy. Had some great hikes starting in the vineyard and ending up in a nearby wildlife refuge. Good bird watching. The breakfast buffet was excellent and dinner in the Sonora Room was memorable. Our room was beyond our expectations. Highly recommend!!

We enjoyed a 3 night stay in early May. Our very spacious & comfortable room was beautifully appointed & we felt the proprietors had thought of every luxurious detail. We had a fabulous 3 course dinner at the Sonora & delicious breakfasts each morning. Every staff member throughout the Burrowing Owl establishment was friendly & efficient ~ front desk, housekeeping, dining room, breakfast & wine shop. We have stayed at other resorts in the area & Burrowing Owl is by far the best. The views & ambiance are unique. We would like to return when the pool is open. No need to go to Tuscany or Provence!

Visited Burrowing Owl today for lunch, the service was excellent, the food was very well presented and very tasty. The wine excellent. Their desserts were to die for. The view from the patio was spectacular. It was a beautiful day 33 degrees. A very nice spot to visit for a quiet non rushed luncheon.
