I am 58 years old and have travelled quite extensively overseas, but honestly, one of THE most beautiful places on this earth is Desolation Sound near a VERY funky place called "Lund". Lund is the end....or the beginning (depending on how you look at it)of the 101 highway. We took a tour with our son and his wife early in September. The weather was perfect and the water so calm it seemed like we could get and walk across it! Our tour operator was Christine. She is a WEALTH of information on the area. The area is pristine, breathtaking and it leaves one "awestruck". We all wore orange survival suits and there were only the 4 of us in the zodiac. It is VERY safe for little people as well as senior citizens. This trip REALLY should be on EVERYONE's "things to do before you die" list. I have done this trip with 2 girlfriends 2 years ago and raved about it so much that we took our son and his wife who were ALSO awestruck. We will go again and next time we are taking the long tour (full day). GUARANTEED you will be happy you did!
Lund, also an experience in itself. Nancy's bakery and the BoardWalk are a must to go and feast and have good libations!
