“Another Great Stay”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

We arrived to a warm welcome from the owners Martin and Cath. They made us feel really at home. We stayed in room 9 which was a lovely size room really spacious and with two leather sofas to relax on. The bathroom is huge with a large shower and large bath, the pebbled flooring looked fantastic. There were plenty of thick warm towels (we didn't need them all). The bed was really soft and comfortable. There is air con if you required it, internet and wifi the room. We had a view of the grounds from our door and of the chickens which the children loved to watch and were even aloud to feed along with a trip to see the pigs. The hotel is beautiful and the food is 5 star. We also watched a film in there own cinema which was really comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definately be returning.

Room Tip: The Matthew Rhys Suite Room 9 is really comfortable, spacious and great view of the chicken Coop. La...

My husband and I visited Ty Mawr in June and enjoyed our stay so much that I booked a two night stay in August for my daughters birthday. Our second visit was just as good and I'm now thinking about a third stay. I'm not going to repeat everything other reviewers have written however the beds are super comfortable, the rooms are huge and beautiful, the food is amazing and Martin and Cath are fabulous hosts. Plus you've got to go and say hello to the pigs and the chickens.

Room Tip: Room 2 is particularly nice for couples, amazing bathroom with views over the fields.

What a wonderful place .... Set in the tranquil hills near Aberaeron this place is special.
We were warmly welcomed by Martin who gave us a tour of his wonderful home.. I say home because its obviously loved by the owners who have restored it to its former splendor .
We stayed in the kiera knightly suite which was stunning.... The bed was so so comfortable . The jacuzzi bath was fab .... Nice touches like homemade biscuits and nothing was too much trouble. When I asked for fresh milk it was brought to e straight away.
Then came the evening meal ... The best meal I've ever had from beginning to end it oozed quality the chef is a champion of local produce .. An al a carte meal which pleased the eye ad palette !!!! Local fish meat veg homemade bread simply wonderful... Breakfast was also of the same quality real bacon!!!!! The owners own eggs and again homemade bread !! Fab x
The location is also perfect a few minutes away from lovely Aberaeron and new quay making it a wonderful base for exploring .... A must for couples who want a relaxing romantic break that will not disappoint 10/10

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely the suites are fab

From the moment you arrive, you will be treated royally. Although they make great play about famous people who have stayed there, you will be made to feel you are on a par.

Good old fashioned service that makes you feel both wanted and special.

The rooms were spacious, with a comfortable bed and excellent bathroom facilities.

Nothing was too much trouble for them throughout our stay.

Breakfast was excellent with a full welsh of local produce.

I would recommend and would return.

I have seen some great photos of Wales and always wanted to visit so finally after 7 hour drive we have arrived at Ty Mawr Mansion. We were welcomed by Martin and made feel really like at home. I know this is suppose to be classed as a B&B but it would easily pass as a hotel. You can see everywhere that the owners Martin and Cath put their hart and soul from tiny little details of selecting the colour of rooms to furniture and decor. Even the little things like a hairdryer which is the right kind of powerful one not like the flimsy you are used to find in hotels. Right so now the business side: Sleep was amazing the duvets , bedding and mattress was so great I really just wanted to pass breakfast and sleep in at least till lunchtime. We stayed in room 7 which had a jacuzzi bath and spacious shower which again was great, the water pressure was rally good and the bathroom was just like a size of another room. Breakfast was yum yum freshly baked croissants were always found in the section of the continental breakfast and the full english well you can't beat local produce including freshly baked bread by Cath. To be honest the breakfast was so good that I could easily go without lunch ( I stuffed myself). We also tried the restaurant at Ty Mawr as we heard a lot of good recommendations about their local chef and they were right we were not disappointed. This was a three course menu with a lot of choice for the price of £30 per head an absolute bargain!
Things to do: We went to Aberaeron and just enjoyed crabbing as a bit of laugh I am a 33 year old but had a lot of fun beach was great. We also popped to the New Quay where you can see the dolphins jumping in and out of the sea and this was truly an amazing experience. In the evening we decided to try out New Celtic Restaurant but it was really busy and cramped we had to wait for 30 min for a table so really wished we booked with Martin again for their restaurant as the experience in dining in their restaurant is so intimate and relaxed . Would definitely return again and can't wait for the next opportunity.... Martin & Cath thank you for all your generosity xxx

Room Tip: Room 1 has lovely view onto the gardens and room 7 has an amazing bathroom ;0)

From the moment we arrived at the mansion we knew it was special. A beautiful tranquil setting with chickens, pigs and horses in the immediate surrounding grounds.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner Martin who collected our bags and guided us to our room, Martin and his wife Catherine are fantastic hosts and catered for our every need and request, nothing is too much for them, they were always on hand to help.

The room itself was great, lovely big super king bed and jacuzzi bath, the decor of the hotel is tasteful and has great period features. We stayed two nights and on both days ventured to the sea side, a short drive away, we particularly enjoyed new quay.

One evening we dined in the hotel restaurant, this is a must, the food was delicious and very well priced for the quality, yet again staff were very attentive and Martin was on hand throughout to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The breakfast provided was also superb, full cooked breakfast was perfection for me.

Overall I would say the hotel was fantastic, especially at making guests feel wanted and comfortable, nowadays it is rare to be welcomed upon arrival and made to feel cared for throughout your stay, this is something Martin and Catherine have down to a fine art and we would recommend this hotel to anyone, great stay!

What a great little Gem. Found this property doing a random search. Probably best described as a Restaurant with Food, but we stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed not only the accommodation and food but the attention of all the staff. The owners, Martin and Catherine McAlpine have hospitality down to a fine tee. The food was really delicious and the breakfasts were unrivalled. I can't praise this hotel highly enough. Well done to all of the staff.

Room Tip: There was a small suite of rooms on the level, would book that room when visiting again.
