As it says on the tin, the only floating pub on the Caledonian Canal and a great place to stop for a drink or some food.
Loads of atmosphere and banter around the bar and called in for a deserved late lunchtime drink (or two!) to revitalise the tired body after walking from Corpach, and then walked back down the busy A82 later for dinner - don't forget a torch if you are doing the same and walking back after dark - and had a good salmon steak for dinner and more banter with canal cruisers moored at the locks overnight.
Ideal for walkers (and obviously the canal cruisers too) as the Eagle Barge is on the Great Glen Way at Laggan Locks, but also easily accessible for motorists with (free, I think) car parking facilities only 200m off the main road.
If you are staying at South Laggan you can either eat here or at the Great Glen Water Park a mile up the road. For a totally different environment with a random mix of the boating fraternity, walkers, locals and passing motorists, my vote is for the Eagle Barge, but remember to book ahead from the online menu if you want to have dinner, seating capacity and food storage space are limited so the chef will want to know in advance what you intend to eat.
