I spent a lot of nights here. Lairg isn't busy and has poor choices for things to do but, I love the Lairg Highland. All the rooms are nice and clean and I think are very regularly redecorated. Housekeeping is brilliant, rooms are always spotless.I think the owner is called Annette, she is lovely and looks after people, Anyway Fact. I was staying there for a while with work. I came back to the hotel in the afternoon to ask for a late key. "Yes of course" was the reply, then came the question "what are you having for diner?" I replied "I'll just get a sandwich from the spar". Nice Lady said "Stand right there, your not leaving till I fix your dinner", 10 minutes later she gave me some steak pie, veg and tatties to microwave at work.

Its a genuinely nice place. The Bar/Restaurant Manager is Alan. Hes brilliant.

Room Tip: Its lovely and family run but proffessional

Thank you so much for your review. It is comforting to know we are appreciated as all too often nowadays people are quick to criticise rather than say positive things. All the staff work very hard and I will pass your comments on to them. Thanks again.

Visited the restaurant for a meal with my daughter who is vegetarian I ordered cheese Burger and my daughter the Veg burger, my burger was lovely but the onion rings? fryer could not have been hot enough which meant creasy rings could taste them all night, Daughter's burger must have been in same fryer again creasy, but we both received a large bowl of chips each, would have been good but half the chips were over done to almost burnt.
Alan the waiter could not have been nicer pity about the chef.
The owners were not at the hotel when we dined maybe better when one of them is present.
Will I be back for a meal doubt it!

Room Tip: Only had meal but have stayed before and was happy with the room.

Stayed for 2 nights on business. Was given a very small single room smallest hotel room I think I have ever had to be honest rather uncomfortable for two nights and room was cold no matter what I did to the radiator. Had to eat in restaurant in hotel as Lairg has no other eating places. Food was nice staff were lovely just found the hotel uncomfortable to lounge in. No soft seating once your meal is over so u have to sit in same wooden seats you sat at for dinner overall hotel is ok

We stayed here as a base for touring the highlands, we were pleasantly surprised at how friendly the two owners and there staff were, going out of there way to recommend places to visit and scenic routes, our room was spotless and pet friendly (a real bonus) the food was excellent very varied menu, i recommend one of the specials..pork belly..best i have tasted, a breakfast that sets you up for the day, friendly locals in the bar of an evening, will certainly be returning here and would not hesitate to recommend.

Room Tip: our room was to the rear, very quiet, no disturbance for our dog.

Having stayed in numerous highland hotels, this was one was recommended. Wasn't sure quite what to expect but over all happy to say pleasantly surprised. Staff were accommodating and polite even when running back and forth, Food excellent which leaves you a little overwhelmed and full at the generosity. For a two night stay, I was very pleased.

Worth the money.

Have used this place several times and the menu has never changed. Having said that, the food is good honest bar food, though there are specials which are generally pretty good. Staff always seems to be different, but service is usually good.

Stayed here for a week, room comfortable and clean, sadly it goes downhill from there. "Restaurant" menu limited and many items shown not as the description such as filo parcels which was served as a slab of bought in pate with oatcakes. When asked, I was told the management won't buy filo pastry and won't print new menus. A prawn and avocado starter had no avocado because, " the chef doesn't like it". Having worked in the industry I think this is unacceptable. Obviously a lot of packet sauces were used as many meals were quite bland, although the fish and chips were very good. Drinks served in the restaurant cost more than in the bar even though they were poured there, and to go from restaurant to the bar without going outside and being eaten by midgies, you have to walk through the public toilets. PAT testing on appliances was a year or more out of date. To sum up it is the only place to eat and drink in Lairg and as such has a captive audience, so minimum effort seems to have been made. Good friendly staff, although a bit of professionalism when serving would have made it better.
