“60th Wedding Anniversary Celebration”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2014

We celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary at The Grimscote Manor Hotel on Saturday 12th July
what a fabulous hotel to enjoy the reunion of family and friends from New Zealand, Australia,Germany, France and UK, Gillian and all staff were indeed brilliant, tending to all our needs when and where required, nothing was too much trouble, the whole hotel was truly brilliant, nothing that we could find at all to complain about, the food was perfect and all decorations were to a very high standard,
We thank all at The Grimscote Manor for such Excellent Service through out our stay, and hope to revisit in the near future. Maureen and Maurice Buckle West Midlands

Room Tip: The suite was excellent!!!!

Let's start with the positives. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Top marks in that respect. The place was clean, bright and well presented. Breakfast was served quickly and tasty enough.
Despite this, we stayed for one night and were pleased that it was only the one night. Reason being was that it just reminded me of 'an old folks Home' the smells, the decor and layout. I do not intend this to be disrespectful in any sense, but not for us.
We booked into what was described as a 'deluxe' double room. I'm not sure of the interpretation of 'deluxe' as rather a outdated term. It wasn't however a double room. The bed wasn't a full double bed (three quarter size) and the room was so small there was not enough space for our cases (we had one balanced on the chair and another standing beside the bed). The mattress had a 'lived in' feel and look (although they had tacked the curtain material around the base to vamp it up a little) and too soft. It wasn't conducive to getting a good nights sleep on a warm summer night, especially given that the sheets weren't cotton (? maybe a polyester type mix). We left the window open to cool down, but obviously needed to close the (heavy) curtains to stop light coming in. Unfortunately that meant we were woken early by the sound of the builders settling into their morning tea talk before they started on the extention being built directly outside the room.
We thought we might have got the booking wrong re the 'deluxe' thing, but no, after checking with the (genuinely) charming girl on reception, confirmed that the small room with the small bed with the unpacked cases being tripped over, was in fact what we had booked .... Deluxe double sir!
It may have been a bit more roomy had the washbasin been inside the en-suite room rather than actually in the bedroom itself. A new experience for us having to go into the bedroom to wash our hands having been to the loo in a different room.
I think the owners have tried hard to create a stylish ambience, but have I think in such a quest missed getting right the basics. That is, a proper full sized double bed, cotton sheets and a firm(er) mattress.
Oh and while I'm offering tips, I think it's best that dining rooms aren't overpowered by air freshener (especially the same kind used in old folks homes) ... Could that be the smell of 'Lilac of the Valley'? .... Even if the food were delicious, the smell of 'Lillies of the Glen' air freshener or real flowers or combination, doesn't activate the hunger sensors in a way that fresh spices/fresh cooking would have.
And lastly, if I can share one other thought; perhaps revenue might have been increased if cans of beer weren't priced so steeply (strangely though, the mark up on wine was very reasonable! In comparison.

Room Tip: Can't comment on the other rooms but ours was number 12 .... Read review then decide for yoursel...

On Sunday 13th July 2014 we celebrated the renewal of our wedding vows and my 50th birthday at the Grimscote Manor Hotel.Gillian, the manageress and her staff provided us with an excellent service from check in on the Sunday until our departure on the Monday morning.
The weather was beautiful which enhanced our service which took place outside on the bandstand area, All of the staff were very friendly and supportive of our every request, the food of an exceptional quality served at our buffet on the evening.
We were provided with a complimentary bottle of champagne and belgium chocolates in our room, in addition to heart shaped petals laid on our bed.
The resident DJ conducted our order or service and running of the day and he really did us proud- thank you.
We propose to return again in the future and would highly recommend this venue for any special occasion.
Thank you to all at Grimscote Manor for a truly wonderful day
Lyn & Andy

Room Tip: We had room number 11 which looked out onto the marque and grounds at the front of the hotel. Experi...

We stayed at Grimscote for a wedding. The room was good. The highlight was the wedding. They were right on with everything. The service for the wedding lunch was outstanding! It was a beautiful day (weather being sunny helped). The grounds are lovely. They are doing some kind of addition so the pool is gone (from the US and wanted to swim as it was hot out, but I wasn't bothered). I would definitely recommend this place to another bride.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows. Ours just had a skylight. Was stuffy and dark, but we weren't bot...

An excellent hotel with very friendly and helpfull staff. Easy to find and with a great location for relaxing in the garden before dinner in the resturant. I had a single room which had everything you would need and more. Would definitely stay here again.

This was my last stopping off point of a hectic week and was just what I needed, friendly staff, clean comfortable room, good food, comfy bed, great location and a very nice (all in) breakfast!
Only slight fault was the Free Wi Fi was a little weak but that is picky.
Definitely stay here again.

Had a very comfortable stay at the Grimscote Manor. the staff are very friendly and welcoming. There was a wide selection of food and the quality was excellent. I had the single room which was fine, clean, in good condition, well equipped and at a reasonable price. There is a common room avaialble for the guests and a garden - so lots of space. Wifi had a strong signal in both room and public areas. The staff were helpful in recommending a restaurant in Coleshill - within easy walking distance. A great stay - thank you.
