“Spectacular 'Bat Watch' in the Vines”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

The Vines is a beautiful small Park sandwiched between the Kings School and Cathedral precinct. Its a perfect space to find a little Peace and Quiet by simply walking up Crow Lane away from bustling Rochester High Street

“Locals are improving the outlook of The Vines with carefully thought out planning.”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Always a tranquil oasis behind the High St, The Vines is getting a face lift by the locals with planting for Spring etc. Sadly, each day the litter has to be cleared away after groups use the park for picnics, get togethers etc even though bins are just a few feet away. The local authorities keep everything tidy but if the users were a bit more caring it would be pristine all the time.

“Nice small green oasis in historic Rochester”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

The Vines Park is a small green oasis on the site of a medieval vineyard where monks from Rochester Cathedral (right next door), once grew grapes for their wine.
Take a walk around the perimiter and see a monk statue lying on the floor sculptured from one of the fallen trees, also look out for the plaques on the wall.
The park joins up The Vines to Crow Lane (where Restoration house is).

“Lovely park with some Dickens history...”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

If you've found restoration house, it is certainly worth it to cross the street to read about this park and take a short stroll. Lovely views down toward the cathedral at the far end as well.

“Lovely, calm open space”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

Hidden in plain sight, this plane-tree lined park is just grass and planting, but the design and scale make it a wonderfully calm hang out in the summer months. A shame the monk carved from a dead tree has now been laid to rest in a corner for the beetles to devour, but a wonderful space nonetheless.
