“Marvellous little B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Chestnuts B&B. In fact, it was so nice I almost don't want to let you in on the secret!

We stayed in the Honeysuckle room. The accommodation was cosy and comfortable, with a king size bed, and an en-suite shower room. The shower was truly a feat of engineering, with two shower headstand water jets that give you massages too! The room was spotlessly clean, and very welcoming. It had its own flat screen TV, and WIFI, and it's own thermostat, along with a range of tea, coffee and the best selection of biscuits I have had in a hotel. It was obvious that the layout of the room was well planned, with everything to hand to be very comfortable indeed. The bed was very comfortable too, and extra blankets were also available in the large wardrobe.

Our hosts were just great, they made us feel very welcome, providing us with tea and biscuits on arrival, and they gave us lots of recommendations about the area, as well as weather updates and tips on the best places to eat locally.

Breakfast in the morning was amazing, including a range of cereals, yoghurts and fruit, porridge (if you wanted it), as well as a really delicious fry up too. It was excellent value for money.

There's plenty of parking and because the accommodation is separate to the main house, a feeling of privacy too. Your rooms are in a little annexe in the garden, so you look out over the lawns and the wood with all the chestnut trees, and it's beautiful.

We'll definitely stay there again. And I have no hesitation at all in recommending it to others.

John & Rosemary provide B&B of a standard that keeps pulling me back time & time. It's one of the nicest B&Bs I stay in - & the charge is way below the standard of accommodation. Nobody should dare to ask for discount for multi-day stays !
I love the isolation of their garden accommodation & that I can relax & unwind.
John & Rosemary are super hosts & are two of the most genuine people I've met. Their reaction to my desire for coffee in a mug, rather than a china cup, is both warming & amusing.
It's a shame they're not in Yorkshire - I'd stay even more, on those nights when the kids are being horrible !
Oh ...the wifi's strong & decent for speed too.

Room Tip: Both rooms are good - double & a twin. I like the double because I can sleep corner to corner bu...

I cannot recommend Chestnuts B&B enough. From a fantastic welcome to gorgeous accommodation and to top it off an amazing breakfast the next day. The rooms are finished to a really high spec with a gorgeous shower, a huge bed and plenty of biscuits and drinks to pick from. The owners were the nicest people who literally couldn’t do enough for us. The B&B is perfectly situated if you are going to a wedding at The Knowle as it’s only a 5 minute taxi ride away. Would defiantly stay here again.

We needed somewhere to stay as we had travelled to attend a friend's 50th birthday celebration.
When we arrived we received a very warm welcome, all the good comments about the accommodation are exactly right, clean, warm, well appointed room and then a great breakfast in the morning.
I can strongly recommend this B&B.

I can thoroughly recommend Chestnuts B&B in Higham. The rooms could be called chalets - they are detached from the house, in a converted garage in the garden, near woods.
The owners give a lovely welcome and they are really interesting people - you can have a great conversation with them. Equally, if you're not in the mood to chat they'd leave you in peace (unlike other b&bs when it can be a bit 'in your face' and awkward!). There are lots of nice finishing touches - fresh cut garedn flowers in the room, nice toiletries to use, interesting biscuits with the tea and coffee kit and a delightful spread at breakfast (non-greasy fry-up - more of a 'grill-up'). Didn't want to leave! xxx

We arrived in Rochester from the USA after driving from London. We had booked another B&B yet the host never showed up. We called the Whitefields at 6 pm and they were so gracious in letting us stay in their B&B. The two rooms are behind their home are very new, very well equipped with the latest in amenities, and sit in the woods away from the road. Our beds were fantastic and the shower was like looking at the controls of a jet engine! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and so enjoyed chatting with our hosts. All in all....a wonderful find. Chancing upon this little B&B was a lovely piece of luck. It was chosen at the last minute to be reasonably close to the Dartford crossing (it's around 10 miles) and it was great.

I arrived quite early around 3pm but everything was ready. Very friendly welcome, and I was shown to one of the two (from what I could tell) rooms that they have on offer. Both seem pretty much the same and are located away from the house at the rear.

The room itself is beautifully presented, looking clean and high quality. A large screen TV with Freesat HD is sat on the wall above a desk. The usual chairs, wardrobe and a very comfortable bed are also present. There are tea and coffee making facilities along with a few snacks should you get peckish.

The bathroom is a good size, well presented with a nice powerful double shower. Plenty of complimentary toiletries are here in case you forget anything.

The room itself felt like home from home.

If you want to eat in the evening there is a curry house opposite, a carvery around 2 minutes drive and plenty of places 5 minutes drive away into town.

The breakfast on offer was great. Fruit juice, cereals, fruit etc on offer as well as a wonderfully cooked full english breakfast.

All the above for £45! Fantastic value.

John and Rosemary obviously care about your stay and that makes you want to come back when you leave. And I shall when next in the area. Thank you.

Room Tip: From what I can tell they are the same.
