This used to be really bad about the only thing worth having was chips, however recently the food has improved and they have started having staff that are much more people focused.

If you only got a £10 to spend go here and your get 2 courses and a beer so you get what you pay for.

If you've ever been to a Wetherspoon's pub before you'll know exactly what you're going to get before walking through the door of the Golden Lion. Cheap drinks and food (which is of a reasonable standard) in a bar which has been fitted out with a lot of pictures of historic Rochester.

I've been to this pub on more than one occasion and the service has always seemed to be very good, the bar staff are always friendly and the food generally turns up in about 10-30 minutes (more or less in line with the bar staffs estimates) depending on how busy it is. Not a bad place to go for a quick pint and a bite to eat but probably not your first choice of you're looking for a nice quiet venue...

We've been in this pub a few times, both to drink and eat. Being a Weatherspoons it is cheap and will always be busy, so we knew what to expect. I read other reviews about staff being rude, but we have always found them very friendly and accommodating. The food is....OK...just what you'd expect for the price really, fairly quick service s well, but this will always depend on how busy they are. Usual range of cheap beers and drink offers from a Weatherspoons, with some random ales on offer as well. It is quite a large pub and there is seating on 2 levels, though I cannot recall seeing any outside seating, but I could be wrong. In summary, for a cheap beer and cheap food you can't go wrong, just don't expect the world for what you are paying.

Visited sun (today) ordered a Xmas dinner roast , turkey was cold and no pig in blankets on plate , dinner was not very nice and not worth the money .
Nice open fire put logs not topped up , few sad looking older men on their own and we sat with other family's nr window .
I have visted other wetherspoons and this is one of the worse , staff are helpful but food terrible .
