“Very Interesting House On The High Street”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Enter the house right on the main shopping high street.
There are two rooms at the front with explainations and artifacts.
Walk through the house and there are three bedrooms to see.
Beautiful garden - cleverly arranged to look as if it is a planted
plot - it is actually a collection of pots etc. We sat for a while in the sun
under the beautiful hanging baskets!
All in all - extremely interesting house well worth an hour or so.
Oh and FREE to get in - donations welcomed.

“Such an interesting House”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

We found this quite by accident while walking down Rochester High Street. It is shut for an hour around lunch time. Free entrance and very informative literature throughout. Travellers were only allowed to stay for one night and one can visit their small rooms. The small garden at the back was full of flowers and herbs. Do visit if in the area.

“Rochester's little gem”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

As this building is now an almshouse, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is possible to see some of the older and more interesting parts of it. There are exhibits explaining and showing some of the history, but not so much as to make looking at them an effort, and it was good to be able to see two of the actual rooms which would have been in use when Dickens visited it.

“Great place for a tourist to visit”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

This is such a neat little place to discover on the Rochester High Street. It's fascinating and historical, and takes about an hour to fully get through (if you're reading all the placards). The gardens out the back are lovely, and I would recommend any visitor to Rochester take some time out to learn the history of this neat little place.
