Wonderful period hotel, right on the sea front. Very friendly service, breakfast on the terrace if fine. Choose a room with sea view if you can. All rooms now fully modernised. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms well worth the extra.

Stayed here numerous times due to my husbands business visits and always enjoyed it very much. Royal Albion hotel is in an enviable cliff top location, with fabulous views of the bay and also in a great location for access to the town of Broadstairs and its many restaurants. Understandably because of this fantastic location, it is very popular, equally with non residents who regularly use the coffee shop, bar and restaurant. Whatever day you visit it is always full of people.

The rooms are well furnished and comfortable (though due to the properties age some have sloping floors). There are no lifts so a hike to the top floor is good exercise.

The breakfasts are fantastic with a great choice, the young ladies who serve are very cheerful and chatty and all in all, this is certainly one of the best hotels in the Thanet area.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are better, not only for the obvious views but less noisy than town facing rooms. Ask...

An hotel with a wonderful location overlooking the sea-front at Broadstairs. The hotel is a mix of the modern lifestyle and is also quaint with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are friendly and most helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back overlook the seafront. Be aware that there is no lift.

The hotel is right in the centre of old Broadstairs, overlooking the sea on one side and with a good outside seating area for fine weather. Our room, overlooking Albion Street, was on the first floor, which is an advantage because there is no lift in the hotel. It was large and well arranged, as was the bathroom. Staff were welcoming and generally efficient. Advertised 'Wi-fi' is in fact the Cloud, which was useless to us because we were not previously registered.

Room Tip: There is no lift (which was made clear to us when booking). Rooms overlooking Albion Street are like...

We booked online which was hassle- free but it took me three months to realise the room was on the top floor. I telephoned directly and the receptionist agreed to try and move us downstairs if possible before our stay. We were moved to the first floor about 36 steps, as there is no lift (which we knew about). Unfortunately for us, my husband and I had both injured our knees before arrival, so this was a trial (no-ones fault). Our room was beautiful, clean and spacious and the bed was a comfortable cloud. We were on the street side which was noisy at night due to revellers until about 2am on Sunday morning which kept us awake.
The shower panel was stuck which I reported for the benefit of the other guests coming after us. At breakfast on the Sunday morning a young man told us to "sit anywhere" which we did with difficulty because a large party had a celebration in the breakfast room the night before. What we did not realise was that this party stayed the night and we had sat in someone's seat so we moved. We were then overlooked for about 20 minutes when I caught the eye of a pleasant young man who cleaned our new table. When he was told by me that no-one had taken our order, he sprang into action and we were quickly served. The first waiter then sauntered by us, after serving another couple who arrived after us; they had eaten and left by now, and asked what we wanted to order, so we told him that someone else was taking care of us.
The breakfasts were delicious and filling with plenty of choice and there was an a la Carte menu in the evening which had to be booked. We were not told of the bar menu and discovered that this was available on the day of our departure. We would have liked to have been informed, as we were unable to get a meal anywhere on the Saturday night until nearly 9pm. We finally had a good meal accross the road at the bistro.
As we left the hotel on the Monday we spoke to an older woman who had worked at the Albion for 30 years or more and asked if we could book for next year? She showed us 2 rooms on the seaward side one too small, and one too expensive, and kept going on about there being "no cheap deals on this room". I found this insulting as we had paid the full amount for our stay, or do you object to my Midlands accent?
We provisionally booked but shall cancel before next year as the hotel is clean and pretty but overpriced and some staff are snobs. The younger staff were absolutely lovely

Room Tip: Only stay on the seaward side for a peaceful night
