We had friends down to visit and after our usual dog walk on the beach wanted somewhere to eat either a breakfast or light snack, having eaten far too much the previous evening.
Our number one choice for the day, Beaches which allows dogs and do lovely food was shut for the winter, what a wasted chance.
We therefore thought that we would have a coffee and snack in the Tartare Frigate snuggling next to the open fire. However although we were allowed in with the dogs, the landlord informed us when asked that they didnt serve food downstairs on a Sunday and if they did, we wouldnt be allowed with the dogs. So thats them wiped off the list.
So we trundled up the high street to see where else we could eat and saw the sign for the Old Curiosity Shop which stated they welcomed dogs. We waited a little while outside for a table for four as the place was heaving and went in.
What a refreshing change, children and dogs welcome, basic light menu, snacks, burgers, toasted things, hot drinks and home made cakes. Prices just right.
The owner/waiter informed us that someone had once made a complaint about dogs in the premises and the council had visited. What a waste of tax payers money, dogs are allowed in restaurants/bars/eating areas there are no 'health and safety' laws that prevent this despite what many establishments will claim.
We will certainly be back and by the looks of the many people in there, so will the rest of the clientelle.
