Stayed for the Folk Week (August 11th till 18th). Very nice room with sea view and balcony.
Margaret and David were excellent hosts and the breakfasts were as good as we have ever had and we would have no hesitation in recommending the place for a break at the seaside. Parking is a slight problem after one day we got a nice spot directly in front of tha accomodation.

Stayed 2 nights in August in Room 6 overlooking the sea. Spotlessly clean room and en-suite. Breakfast was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Would definitely recommend this guest house. Close to beautiful beach and town centre. Quiet cliff top location with on- street parking right outside.

Room Tip: Room 6 has a VERY firm bed!

Ok - £85 per night for small double room at top of house with mini ensuite toilet and shower ( shower is actually a drip of water not a proper shower) but is August so maybe cost is ok??

Parking difficult if not impossible between 9.30am and 7pm (AUGUST). it is free but on street and you have little chance in the day.

Overall though clean and friendly owners with decent breakfast and good generous coffee plus porridge option.

Bed very small and my Partner could not sleep well.

Broadstairs - definitely recommend for weekend with great sandy beaches and fab walks plus lovely village.

We will be back but next time - self catering. This place is fine and would say if £50-£60 ok but 2 nights at £85 felt a little steep in the attic room.

Room Tip: Room 7 and 8 are attic rooms.

Thank you for your review. We always welcome feedback from guests.

Prices in Broadstairs during the summer months range from £75 to £130 per night so we consider our pricing to be at the correct level. As you mentioned, we are situated in a great seafront location and are just a short walk from the town so guests can enjoy a quiet, relaxing break yet a short walk to the restaurants and shops in the high street.

Thank you for letting us know about the shower although it would have been appreciated if you mentioned it whilst you were staying with us as it could have been resolved. Since your review, we have fixed the issue and the shower now works fine.

We appreciate that parking along the esplanade can be difficult, especially as you stayed during Folk Week, and we endeavour to keep our cars on the road so that they can be moved if guests have a problem finding a space. We have a garage just down the road so we can move one of our cars if a guest asks for a space.

Again, thank you for your comment on the cleanliness of the room and the quality of breakfast. We are sorry to hear that you found the bed to be a bit small and had trouble sleeping. The bed is a standard 4'6" double as required by the Visit England inspectors and is standard for a four star Guest House. I will personally spend a night in the room and test the bed to make sure it is of an acceptable standard.

We would also like to understand why you feel the Devonhurst is "stuck in the 70's". We will be evaluating the provisions and décor of the rooms over the winter season so would appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to email me directly (matthew@devonhurst.co.uk) if you wish.

We are glad the you enjoyed your overall stay and hope to see you back in Broadstairs enjoying the beach and walks soon. I recommend the "Explore Thanet - Walking and cycling map" as it contains some great coastal walks.

We just stayed for one night and although Margaret and David were very welcoming and full of good advice and information, we had room 5 which we paid £90 because it had a sea view.
Unfortunately we had to close the curtains when getting dressed &undressed to give us privacy as there were not net curtains, defeating the purpose of having a sea view. The room was small and very very hot; a ceiling fan would not go amiss here. And I agree with a previous review the shower was not very good, we were told that the poor water pressure was due to where it was situated at the top of the property but interestingly the water pressure was strong from the taps over the wash hand basin. The breakfast was excellent and the place was spotless. I did think given that it was in Broadstairs it was overpriced for the area.

Room Tip: If no A/C check out the room has at least a fan, particularly in the summer months

Thank you for this review. We always welcome guests comment and feedback but are a little disappointed when a guest does not mention any issues to us during their stay and prefers to complain via Trip Advisor.

This guest stayed in Room 5 on the second floor of the building. It has 4 large opening windows giving a double aspect view over Stone Bay, the English Channel and North Foreland. This room was equipped with ½ height net curtains but they were removed some time ago as the majority of our guests mentioned that they spoilt the view, however we still have them in the store cupboard on the second floor if required but we have never been asked for them. If the guest had mentioned that this was a problem during their stay we would have been able to put the nets back up.

We appreciate that none of our rooms are air conditioned but we do have a stock of pedestal fans available for use in exceptionally hot weather as it was that day. Again, our guests only have to ask and 99% of the time, we will be able to solve the problem. We thank this guest for their feedback and we will look at fitting ceiling fans in the rooms as per their suggestion.

We are sorry to hear that this guest had some problems with the shower in the room. None of our other guests who have stayed in room 5 have mentioned this before so we can only assume that it is a problem that has recently developed. We are looking into this problem but again would have preferred it if this guest had mentioned the problem during their stay or at checkout.

Finally with regards the price, all of our guests are told the price up front and are shown the room before they book in. This guests came in off the road asking for a one night stay, knew the price of the room and was shown the room before they registered. The sea-view rooms are very popular and are rarely available for “walk ins” during this time of the year. The price was the same as shown on our web site and is indicative of general B&B pricing in Broadstairs.

Once again, we urge all of our guests to let us know if there are any problems during their stay so that we can address them and help make their stay in Broadstairs a memorable one for all the right reasons.

We just stayed the weekend at the Devonhurst, and along with so many other reviewers, we had a great stay. Our room had a balcony and sea view and it was wonderful to lie in bed in the morning looking out over the beautiful Stone Bay beach. The balcony is a lovely little sun-trap for the morning and into the afternoon. Although the room was quite small, it was extremely comfortable and we wanted for nothing. Margaret and David made absolutely sure we had all that we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was pristine. Our breakfasts were top notch and made to order - all in all we couldn't have asked for more.
The Devonhurst is also very well positioned - you can easily walk into town for shops and restaurants, and you can get down to Stone Bay within 2 minutes, and Viking Bay in 5.
I have a sneaky feeling we'll be back!

Room Tip: It is well worth the extra for sea view as it is such a lovely view.

Back in Broadstairs for the Dickens celebrations and had no hesitation in staying at the Devonhurst again. We had room 9 with the lovely balcony and seaviews - ideal for our early morning coffee. Margaret and David were most welcoming and remembered our special request of extra pillows and skimmed milk in our room. The room was lovely, comfortable and clean and breakfast was plentiful and delicious! We will be back - might try Folk Week next year!!
