“Past it's sell by date”

On Bank Holiday Monday I counted at least 7 empty shops on the site. This cannot be a meaningful leisure destination with that many unoccupied outlets. Core offer is now pretty limited - well past the heydays when it had Austin Reed and Aquascutum. This place either needs investment or can be repurposed as (another) housing estate in Hornsea. Sad as I spent many happy summers working on the Leisure park as a teen.

“Depressing!”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

I had the most disappointing shopping trip EVER to Hornsea Freeport. Many of the units were closed down and the ones that were there were depressing, selling a dire selection of stock. Think Poundstretcher. Yes there actually is one.

There are plenty of outdoor wear shops such as Craghoppers, Mountain Warehouse and Regatta if you are into outdoor pursuits. On trend or fashion shops you can forget it. The only clothes shops are Roman Originals and Klass. A poor representation of high street fashion. I don't mind Clarks but the choice of ladies' shoes was poor compared to McArthur Glen outlet at York where I went last week.

I noticed there were plenty of people walking their dogs as it is an outdoor 'shopping village'. Most of the actual shoppers were pensioners, and they are clearly the target market. Having said that, my mum is 74 and she would have been of the same views as me. If you are a serious outlet shopper you can forget it, Bicester village this ain't!! I have just moved to the area and I love shopping which is why it's such a shame when this is right on my doorstep.

“It's going downhill”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

We've visited the freeport over the last five years and though the units that are open give value for money. however we've noticed that more and more units are being vacated. It's a shame because the location is perfect, it just lacks custom. Considering that this was the first of the freeport locations it seems that it is just not big enough and cannot attract the traders.
