Description: Nestled into the Avon Valley, Award Winning restaurant The Oyster Shack – aka “Seafood Paradise” serves an array of mouth-watering catch of the day seafood and shellfish, depending on what’s been landed daily and what’s in season on the land. With eclectic, rustic decor its as cosy in the wintertime as it is virbrant and al fresco in the summer. A must visit year round. In true "shack" nature you can pop in for light nibbles and coffee with friends at lunchtime through to an extravagant Lobster lunch or whole catch of the day - always with incredibly friendly and welcoming service.

We stumbled across the Oyster Shack by accident but were not disappointed.

It's not really where you might expected to find a restaurant of this name, tucked away down a little country lane rather than on a beach front, but well worth a visit.

Great choice of fresh seafood, reasonably priced.

As you approach the Oyster Shack you wonder if a shed is really where you are going to experience fish at its finest. Well we did anyway but, in truth, we were still euphoric following our drive there over the tidal road (there is an alternative route if that's not your bag) and in a great mood so we giggled a bit in the car park and then in we went. The menu offered me everything I had hoped to see and I selected fried calamari, followed by lobster, grilled with garlic butter and accompanied by sweet potato chips. This was washed down with a bottle of Australian Pinot Grigio that was one of the best PGs we have drunk. My partner chose to start with a half pint of shell-on prawns and followed that with a fresh crab - he was in the mood to get very messy and did! Pudding was 3 flavours of local ice cream for him and lemon posset for me. I think I will gloss over the bill, suffice to say it wasn't cheap. Lobsters and crabs never are but it was fish at its best, treated with respect by a kitchen that really know its stuff and, anyway, it was a special occasion. The service at the OS is as good as the food, efficient, knowledgable and fun. The whole experience was the highlight of our holiday and I would heartily recommend it to anyone whatever the occasion - you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy this great place.

From the moment you arrive everyone is greeted like a valued friend. The young staff are cheerful and attentive without being intrusive and the Oyster Shack is always buzzing with happy customers. The Oyster Shack is consistently the best restaurant I have ever eaten in. Mainly a fish restaurant there are also a couple of meat or vegetarian options. The fish is the freshest - locally caught - and when the sea was rough and the lobster boats couldn't go out, Canadian lobster was on the menu clearly marked. Honesty rules and it shows in everything that Chris and his team does.

The Oyster Shack is not a restaurant you would stumble on, it is in the South Devon countryside close to the coast, one road in is a tidal road the other is a Devon lane.
In warm weather there is an outside terrace which is ideal for younger children.
This is primarily a fish restaurant, simple but imaginative menu.
The service is friendly, fast and excellent. The food is amazing, cooked to perfection with exquisite taste. The cost of a dinner for two with wine represents very good value.
Management are attentive and welcoming.
