“New Year 2012 at The Cables”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

My partner and I shared new year 2012 at The Cables, following a busy Christmas we were looking forward to a relaxing and comfortable two night stay . We were not disappointed, the B and B offers a welcoming and homely stay with great rooms and a hearty breakfast. We would recommend The Cables and will certainly return.

We arrived and being a drab rainy day and the B and B being on the main road, I thought 'Oh dear, will this meet up to her hopes for us?' Well, what an amazing surprise! We cannot list all the little extras that were there to spoil us and we have nothing but praise for 'The Cables'. Normally, there are seceral things to find fault with - not here!
A welcome notice outside the front door and a drink in the comfortable log fire heated lounge, a bedroom (en suite) of tasteful and plush furnishings, an amazing covered hot tub in the garden (completely unaffected by the close proximity to the road) and some amazing food both at breakfast (with gorgeous home made marmalade) and evening dinner (with unbelievably reasonable prices). All this capped with a really warm welcome from hosts who deserve every good review that comes their way. A truly honourable couple who really live out their faith in practice.
No doubt about our hopes being met - they were comfortably surpassed! Treat yourself, you won't regret it.

This was our honeymoon weekend and we were so touched by all the extra little personal touches that Roger put in.
From the hand drawn welcome sign at the door, and a drink on arrival to the beautifully thought out presentation of the bedroom with banners, balloons, rose petals and towel swans this lovely couple really do make you feel so welcome and relaxed.
The room was lovely, clean, comfortable with a well stocked fridge full of goodies, gowns and slippers, hairdryer, cd player, tv and a well thought out basket of essentials in the bathroom.
Breakfast was delicious :)
The hot tub was our favourite bit (even in the November rain) and we enjoyed it so much we booked it for the second night too :)
We didn't have an evening meal but the food smelt delicious and when we stay again we will definitely be booking for dinner :)
The prices are fantastically good value.
I cant think of any negatives at all.
I can recommend this wonderful place and lovely couple without a doubt as we both left feeling so relaxed and chilled.
Thank you :) we will definitely be back :)

Room Tip: we stayed in room 1. the king size 4-poster :) even though it on the main road the traffic didn'...

We made a last minute booking for a 3 night stay at the Cables B&B based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. Roger's breakfasts were to die for and one night we had an evening meal there which was absolutely delicious & beautifully presented. Our room was gorgeous, very clean & comforable & had everything we needed & more. When Roger found out it was my birthday we came back that night to birthday decorations in our room which was a lovely unexpected surprise. The cozy guest lounge also contained folders with lots of leaflets & details about places to visit & local walks which was very helpful & appreciated. We would highly rcommend the Cables B&B & would definately stay there again. Thank you Roger & Maureen. :-)

We stayed in this charming bed and breakfast last night and cannot recommend it highly enough.
as we walked to the front door we were met with a hand drawn sign saying welcome to ourselves and another couple that had booked in for the night.
on entry we were shown into a lovely sitting room where our host Roger sat and explained the facilities to us over coffee and cake .
After sorting out a time for us to eat we were showed to our room which was a nice as we expected from looking on the website.
The room was well presented with a few very homely touches.
After exploring the nearby town of matlock we came back to find Roger stood in the rain cooking our pizza's in an outdoor stone oven along with garlic bread to die for.
We ate part of our meal in the sitting room in front of a log burning stove which for a cold November evening was perfect.
The highlight of our stay was walking in the pouring Derbyshire rain to the outdoor hot tub to the delight of two other guests who quite rightly giggled as we were led outdoors in our dressing gowns and flip flops.
But to be sat in the warmth of the tub surrounded by the rain was something we will not forget for a very long time.
This along with the attention to detail that Roger and Maureen put into every conceivable part of the stay made it one of the most relaxing nights we have spent away from home.
thankyou for you're warm welcome ..

Room Tip: all rooms looked lovely .
