“Utterly Devine food”
Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

We have been on holiday for two weeks and all we craved was a midland Sunday lunch. We come here quite often and never fails to be amazing. This place serves the best Sunday lunch me and my partner have ever had. The lamb is always tender and the gravy is to die for. Top marks to the waiter too he is great always puts a smile on our faces with some remark and he is totally friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is always welcoming. The only possible downside and that's the bar staff are a little sharp in tone but usually ok. Top marks again and see you next Sunday :-)

“AWFULL”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

What a terrible experience we had. Landlord was abusive when we asked to take purchased food down by the river. Customer service was ZERO. ok a sign was there saying no food by the river. Alcohol ok though. But terrible terrible service. Never felt so bad anywhere in my life. Disgusting attitude by landlord. Feel abused. Give this place a massive miss. If they had of said when purchased food you could not eat by the river then it would of been ok, but to buy the food and say you can't take it to the river would of been ok but to be told by the river as its health and safety was just appalling.
Trully Terrible.

“Great pub food”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

On a day trip to Matlock bath our friends suggested the midland. First impressions were not good it looked tired and not our usual choice but how wrong could we be. The beer was excellent, and the food was traditional pub fare but tasted and appeared homemade. Even the children's chicken was breast cut up and battered and the chips fab, good portions and excallant value.

“Great Value for Money”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

So, when your away on holiday and you have the family with you, what do you want when it comes to eating out? If its affordable, good value food then the Midland has it and its dog friendly too!

We ate here twice during our stay in the Peak District. The Midland serves simple pub food and good portions. Main courses starting at £5.45.

Our kids enjoyed the food as did we. There is a terrace if the weather is good so that you can sit next to the river, bear in mind though that its on a slight slope but not a big issue. If its wet out then you can sit in the bar and eat.

There are many places to eat in Matlock Bath and this was always quiet when we went in (August 2012), I think because its the first one after leaving the car park or the last one in the town depending on where you park. They stop cooking at 7pm though so don't try this for an evening meal more of a good lunch stop or early evening meal. I would certainly go again.
