Beers from our very own Shiny Brewery are always available alongside others not usually available locally. We have been voted Matlock and Dales CAMRA Town Pub of the Year 2015. We are the sister pub of Derby City and Derbyshire CAMRA pub of the year 2014, The Furnace, Duke Street, Derby (the home of Shiny Brewing Co.) We also offer a wide range of Craft ales and traditional ciders. Food is currently served Wednesdays and Thursdays 12-3, Fridays and Saturdays 12-8 and Sunday Lunches 12-3. Our Tapas and Home Made Scotch Egg menu is available all day every day. We look forward to seeing you. Cheers!

A family group of all ages were staying at the nearby High Tor Hotel, (food and service there was atrocious), so descended on the County and Station for a pub meal - which is exactly what we got!

The two gentlemen at the bar could not have been more welcoming and we were able to sit as a family, tables moved together and high chair promptly provided for the youngest. A round of drinks later and the starters were served, followed in what seemed to us a reasonable amount of time. OK possibly the portions could have been a little more generous (three strapping sons-in-law with big appetities in tow) but were realistically priced.

This was not haute cuisiune, nor did it pretend to be. Pub grub pure and simple with a price tag to match. Whilst out and about during the course of our three day visit, we noticed a steady stream of diners outside the pub all of whom seemed to be enjoying the hospitality of theCounty and Station pub.

We stopped here as on trip advisor this pub seemed to get excellent reviews and i have to say i was disappointed. We waited nearly a hour for our meals and it was'nt even busy the people on the table next to us left food on there plate which was'nt a good sign.I have to say the chips were overdone the fish was soggy and tasted funny and my wifes meal was'nt much better. We were sat next to a couple of ladies who were not happy with the service or the meal so that made three unhappy tables in a period of an hour or so i think that speaks for itself.

Our Valentines meal at The County and Station had been secretly arranged between John the owner and myself since the whole midweek break had been arranged, and the small-talk at breakfast, secretly designed to find out Samantha's favourite food, was masterfully conducted by John.
So it was, that we carefully plodded through the snow that evening, with Samantha not having a clue where we were going, and still thinking that we would make a decision after a quick drink.
Enter John, and Roger, immaculately dressed in smart togs, who showed us to our table, plonked a bottle of champagne in the ice bucket, and served Samantha with her favourite lamb cutlets.
We would like to think that John and Roger enjoyed the scenario as much as we did - it was certainly the impression that we got, and the whole evening was a wonderful dining experience, easily comparable with a high-end restaurant with all it's personality and service.
Thank you John, and Roger, and thanks to all the others who helped to make the evening so memorable!
