One of the most friendly professional and welcoming hotels we have stayed in for a long time. Could not fault anything.
Of course the weather enhanced our stay, but the quality of the hotel stood out on its own.Accommodation was perfect-food was of the highest standard.
Well done.

We were pleasantly suprised by the Park Hotel and liked it immediately upon arrival.
Check is was fast and very friendly and the room was quite spacious with comfortable beds and lovely bed linen.
Breakfast was average, but no complaints about it as we arrived down at quite a busy time. I do prefer the fact that the hot food is ordered from a menu rather than a buffet.
We ate dinner on one night and it was quite tasty. We found the location of the hotel to be perfect and we strolled into town to sample the various pubs in wonderful Dungarvan.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Park and will definitely be back at the first opportunity.

Easy to find as signposts in the town - a great start:)
Located on the river and just a 10 minute stroll into the town centre. We were only booked in for one night but I did have a chance to have a good look around the grounds and general area and check out the facilities on offer.

Check in was fast, efficient and friendly and the room allocated was on the first floor overlooking the main entrance with a view out to the river estuary. (There is no lift for the first floor rooms but the receptionist said no worry...and she got one of the lads from the bar to take the cases up the stairs). Friends with walking difficulties stayed in a room on the ground floor but it had no view to speak of.

The room was a good size with both a standard double and a single bed which were very comfortable and both with clean, fresh, crisp linen sheets and miracle of miracles...two pillows on the bed (so I didn't have to ask the reception for an extra one). The bathroom was clean and functional and supplied with basic shower items..My husband did mention there was not even a small bar of soap (which he prefers) but there was shower gel.

(Only downside to room being over the main entrance was that it was a bit noisy - not from cars parking but the clients talking and saying goodnight !..oh well, it was a Saturday night.)

The hotel has a swimming pool which is housed in a seperate annex...but as it was July it was busy so I didn't use it...my husband did and said it was fine..but don't think of it as a relaxing area in any sense of the word...it is a normal pool for swimming..and all the children splashing about seemed to love it.

There is a bar on site which was well served by the bar staff and you could also order tea/coffee/drinks to be served in the reception area. There is a "beer garden" area with tables and chairs on a grassed lawn which was very pleasant.

Breakfast is available in the dining room every morning until 10.00hrs with self service for cereals/yoghurt and tinned fruit (would have loved to have seen a fresh fruit salad option).
There was a selection of bread and the option to toast it yourself..however tongs to pick up the hot toast should be supplied as it would be easy to burn your fingers (they may just have been misplaced the morning we were there).

An Irish Breakfast is served to the tables and was well cooked and tasty. I personally would have liked to seen a better quality sausage but the ones served were adequate. Tea and Coffee are also served at the table. The waitresses were very friendly and efficient although I can imagine them being under pressure from time to time with the number of guests all trying to have breakfast at the same time.

However, my rating of average is more due to the fact that while the staff and management are no doubt trying their best there are some small issues that management need to address such as garden staff leaving a pitchfork in the front garden..(dangerous with inquisitive children about), glasses from the night before left by guests in the pillar of the entrance gate and just generally around the place not being cleared away by midday on Sunday...and, the main thing is that discussing our experience with 4 other couples we were travelling with that the cost of 130€ per night for the level of quality we received was slightly more expensive than we felt it warranted and we felt that a price of 90€ per night was more the correct price for the hotel. ...but again, it was a Saturday night in July so.....

All in all though a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Rooms 204/206/208 are on the first floor with no lift access and are located over the main entrance...

I stay in a good few hotels and increasingly dislike hotels because of that. The Park Hotel isn't like the stereotypical hotel and you may like or dislike it for that. I liked it because of that. It has a family feel to it and the owners make you feel welcome. Too often staying in a hotel means no local contact. That can't be said of this hotel. It is personal service and you get a good Irish welcome. You have the feeling that if you asked for anything that it would be done with a smile. It's not a fancy city hotel, and is perhaps an unfinished rough diamond but who wants a sterile unfriendly hotel? Everyone was genuinely helpful and friendly and not in the standard trained-to-be-friendly-no-matter-what way that can be very fake but more in a real life way. Would I stay again or recommend anyone to stay? Absolutely. Would the owners take the time to try and remember you? Absolutely.

Room Tip: Spend a couple of days here and get to know the place.

We stayed in the Park hotel recently- two adults and 4 kids from 3-7 on a very competitive package deal. The staff were plentiful and so friendly. The family bedroom was just big enough, spotless and beds were so comfortable. The hotel looks out on a river estuary just off the dungarvan ring road -near two playgrounds no less. Food lovely, breakfast is served not buffet. We had two dinners both gorgeous and reasonably priced house wine. The older kids ate in the kids club on two nights. The kids club was well run by very nice staff.and took care of the kids from 5.30 to 9.30 each evening. We had to rush back to be in time -a good sign.
The swimming pool was 2 m at the deep end which was a bit tricky for our learner swimmers. The baby pool was fine.
There was a good trad band in the bar on Sunday evening and there were cards on another night and a comedian on another night. There is babysitting available but we didn't avail on this occasion. There was a buzz around the place, lots of locals using the hotel as well, which is a good sign. The manager is very hands on.
I got the impression that our custom was really valued and there was a genuine concern that we were happy. We look forward to coming back, as there is so much to do in the area.

I recently attended a wedding at this hotel and I personally found the staff very accommodating and helpful. On arrival of the Bride & Groom they received champagne reception. The food in this Hotel was good, we had a choice of 2 meals plus a vegetarian option. Overall the wedding went without a hitch and everyone that I had spoken to on the day/night had an enjoyable day/evening. Thanks again to all involved and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have their wedding here.
